http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=772592 and I just don't see how Daydream got beat out for the MVP. Shear stats gives the edge to DB. Rohde seems propped up a little more by 2 really big games which counts for 55-60% of his stats where DBs 3 biggest game counts for much less than half production. Big games vs tough opponents seems to favour DB as well. Although I have to admit that KR vs Atlanta was a real back breaker. Hell, we only had DB returning for 12 games so we could try and get our O on the field more since we were having PT issues with so many ST touches.
I don't know much about how the MVP is calculated but the math doesn't seem to add up here. My objective here is not to slander Rohde. Kudos to him. He is obviously a very good return man on a very good team. But from my perspective (as biased as it is) I just don't get it.
And as for the O MVP (no I havn't stopped bitching yet =p) Krunchy's point has got merit. It doesn't make sense for the MVP to go to a team that is fighting off relegation despite the fact that he had the most combined yards from scrimmage and was a large % of the teams production. Isn't it understood that the MVP implies he gets the team to the next level (playoffs) or am I off base with that thought? I'm not saying it should have been our guy either.
Lastly. The D MVP. How could it not be Mike Blitzer. Not only are his stats significantly better but I think he has more value to Montana (top tier team) compared to Manhatten (mid tier team). I mean Blitzer literally doubles the next guy in tackles on one of the best defenses in the league (I believe that Rohde, technically 2nd in tackles, plays 90% on STs....correct me if I'm wrong). On Manhattan there are 2 other guys with as many tackles. Where SHakin stands out is his sacks. He's the most elite in the league BUT what would you rather have? 29 sacks or 29 Forced Fumbles? Seriously thats messed up. Throw in a decent amount of Sacks, Hurries and Picks for Blitzer too.
Regardless, my hats off to all the MVP winners. COngrats. Sorry if it sounds like I'm bitter.
