[Even though we're not in A #3 anymore, we spent 3 seasons here, so I thought many of you would like to know. We had some nice battles with the Dice, Cruisers, Stallions, Twisters, Express, Villians, Bootleggers, and Revolution.]

The Chicago Commandos are disbanding. The team started in Season 2 in BBB #6. After several tough seasons, we began the slow rise of improvement, eventually going 19-1 en route to the League Championship in Season 6. After 3 successful seasons in A #3, we ascended to AA #2 this season.

Sadly, we are losing some key players this off-season and decided to call it quits as a team. We've enjoyed some long-standing rivalries over the past 8 seasons. A few stand out to me:

Tough Competitor Award goes to College Station Stallions (currently in A #3). We were always pretty evenly-matched with these guys, but for some reason they always owned us. We started 0-5 against them (0-4 regular season and 0-1 playoffs). It seemed like they always beat us by 3 or 6 points, making the streak particularly tough to take. We regularly targeted this as the "we've got to win this one" game each year. In the last two seasons, we won twice to claw back a bit of respectability.

Lame Ass Competitor Award goes to Tricity Cardinals. This is another team we were matched quite evenly with (until this season). In Season 8, we beat them by 6 in a very tough 13-7 early season match-up. When we were slated to meet them again in Round 2 of the playoffs (with us bringing a 14-2 record and them 13-3), we expected another great game that could go either way. For some reason, they decided to I-slam us, in a league that, to my knowledge, didn't have any I-slamming through all of Season 8. I guess I can understand that for an 8 seed facing a #1, but why ruin the best game of the year between two great teams? Wasted the whole season. Weak…

I am retiring from GLB, so don't send me any PMs about my guys. I guess it's now officially open season on the rest of the Chicago roster.

Good luck everyone! Many thanks to team owner Glennio for 8 seasons of fun and friendship.
