GAME OF THE WEEK
Furious George v Maine Hawks
Easy choice here for GoTW, with the last two undefeated teams. Barring the extremely rare tie, one is going down here. Maine has been consistently out-playing everyone, although they were taken to the edge and could have lost to an outstanding Montana team. Furious has not even sweated yet. The starters disappear into the locker room with their cheerleaders by halftime. Between their feminine yet effect return man and their outstanding running game, Furious may be impossible to beat. This is the game we find out. Furious 35, Maine 27.
OTHER GAMES
Atlanta Wolves v Bowdoin Polar Bears
Other than their red races at the hands of Furious (they have much company), Atlanta hasn't lost and has looked like a possible home playoff team. Bowdoin has beaten up a couple of weak teams, but been housed by some of the stronger squads. Atlanta will continue that trend. Atlanta 65, Bowdoin 17.
Montana Grizzlies v New Orleans Poison
Montana is a few plays from being undefeated. Happy bye week. Montana 255, New Orleans 0.
Martha's Vineyard Ballbusters v Welsh Dragons
MV has adapted very well to A level competition and is on pace to threaten for a home playoff game. Welsh is also new and coming off a very successful last season but certainly has not put it together this season. Welsh will pick up several more wins this season, but not this time out. Martha's Vineyard 45, Welsh 10.
Pittsburgh Powerhouse v Da NOLA Brah!!! K&B Purples
I am really looking forward to this one as it should be entertaining. How about Pittsburgh? They are this year's Buffalo, for those of you who were here last year. They have come out of nowhere to be a serious playoff threat. Da NOLA joins Pittsburgh at 4-2 and the winning is looking very solid for the playoffs. I think the Pittsburgh d-line and their big VA advantage gives them a slight edge. Pittsburgh 31, Da NOLA 21.
Vice City Mambas v Houghton Gremlins
VC is sitting at 4-2 and looks to be a playoff team. They will pad their record here. Vice City 200, Houghton 0.
Detroit Diablos v Buffalo Beasts
Once again Buffalo has run an early season gauntlet and is starting in a big hole--can they climb out again? Detroit is just kinda there but I suspect they are not a playoff team. This should be a good game, but I think Buffalo can and probably should grind it out with their o-line to d-line advantage. Buffalo 27, Detroit 17.
Detroit Outlaw v Manhattan Massacre
Two teams at 2-4 and the loser is likely taking an early exit from contention. Manhattan has a nice level advantage but they can't seem to get a rhythm. Detroit is well coached but giving up a ton of VAs. Manhattan was very competitive against MV and Pittsburgh and I take that to be a better sign. Manhattan 37, Detroit 21.
