Well, I have access to the D, but I'm a reluctant DC at this point. I have real life stuff to do and was never our teams DC. I'm currently in Japan on vacation and have been doing the best I can scouting and setting us up. I'd say I put in 5 minutes per game.
Here's how I got access to the defensive AI. Last season we had a DC that didn't have any players on the team. Right before our playoff game, about 4 hours before, mpas asked me to look at the defensive AI and gave me access. I guess he asked me to look at it because I had been mentioning all season long about our complete failure to cover 5 WR sets, which I'm sure some of you noticed as well. We had something like 3 CBs covering 5 WRs, haha. Anyway, I wanted that fixed before the playoff games, and so he asked me to go in and check to see if it was covered by our other DC. Then, I went in and looked at the Defensive AI and was SHOCKED at what I saw.
I PMed mpas and said if I didn't know better I'd say someone was trying to sabotage us with that setup. It was THAT strange and inadequate in my opinion. It had a too many inputs that were catch-alls for a wide variety of situations and plays. Basically, there was nothing in there based on formations, it was all based on downs and distances. One input with one output only, and sometimes 3 of them for the same situations, which makes no sense because it would never use the ones below the top one.
I honestly wanted to delete it all and just go with the basic AI but I didn't know who set up that AI, mpas or the current DC, whom mpas said he wouldn't be returning next season. Basically, I didn't want to fuck up anyones planning efforts so close to the game. I tried to add a couple small things, like closing the 5WR hole we had and separating the 2 and 3 WR outputs, but clearly I missed something because it used the same output for every 2 WR set. I managed to see 2 of the 3 inputs for 2-3WR sets; however, not finding and deleting one of the inputs that was for 1st downs between 8-15 yards for any set with 2-3 WR set, basically killed us in our playoff game.
I am not really a DC, nor do I want to be because I have removed myself from GLB surfdom. I sold my team in season 7 and haven't been involved as more than a player or consultant since. So, spending a lot of time setting up a Defensive AI isn't in my future.
