Or is this just standard retarded sim behavior by the LT?

...wouldn't have happened if that LG knew how to block.

Yeah, that's pretty standard. I've seen my OT doing a lot of blitz pickup this season.

I'd say that sack is on the LG. Vision was probably the reason your OT went over to pick up the blitzer.

gosh I think either something has changed in the blocking part of the sim or DEs just got a lot better all of a sudden. My LT can hardly stay in front of a guy anymore and is taking bad angles pretty often.

that is with what should be about 110 in blocking, the guy still gets around him pretty easily.

looks to me like the DE just pushed him out of the way, more of a strength problem than a blocking problem

yea it's tough to get that strength up to 100 or so to counter that. but you'd think with mid 80s you wouldn't get shoved around like a high schooler. and foundation doesn't seem to help as much as I'd like.

I'm finding mid80s isn't good enough for OTs. It's tough now without VAs, and the only real answer is good slowbuilding and capping those early.

I think something similar happened to my OT here, although in my case he managed to not block the MLB or the DE.

You got to hit "pause", then "FF >>" - that helps!

Your guy managed to block the DE, then realized that the HB went for the NT (bad vision check by the HB? center and LG didn't do jack to engage that guy too at first). So the LOT realized the MLB is unblocked - and let the DE go to take care of the "more dangerous rusher". Just as the OT started to block the MLB, the HB checked again and decided to go for the MLB now. Accordingly the OT let the MLB go and tried for the DE again.

That was pretty good play by the OT - and worse by either HB, LG or C (hard to figure out: either one of the upfront lineman failed - causing the HB to take care - or the HB just failed his vision check).

(One thing leads to another at the line. That's why I always smile at guys talking about their strength-monster not allowing sacks. Sure... technically they don't... they just let their blocking assignment slip... causing another blocker to let his guy go in order to make up for the failure... and then the other blocker looks stupid.)

Looking at this play one tick at a time it looks like it happened just like it was set up. Imho, this play comes close to being an exploit because it puts the DE against a G and makes the LT move out of the way. Here's how it happened, the RDE is lined up over the LG and that's who blocks him. The LT moves inside to block the blitzing MLB and never makes contact with the RDE although he starts to move in that direction once the RDE gets around the LG.
