Yeah, they would be a bit "cooler" if there was some explanation behind the numbers out there.
While I would agree that the SIM is infinitely better this season (I was on the verge of quitting at the end of last season), but there are still some things that flat out suck. Besides the things you have mentioned, there is also issues with pass coverage (if you haven't seen yet, you will), in game morale (games where a team that should be able to stay on the field with the other, but lose by 70+), forced fumbles, and quite a few other things.
As for Tyson Jackson, I think he is a real good player, but certainly not worth a #3 pick, imo.
He came back for his senior year, despite being projected as a late first round pick in 08', which wound up paying off big time. He won't get a lot of sacks, but he will do exactly what they want him to do, which is eat up space in the 3-4. So, I would say he was a safe pick... he won't be a superstar, but he will be a solid player for a long time.
