I am not speaking for OSO, but i think what he is saying is until you have walked a mile in someone's shoes, don't sit there and talk like you know what you are talking about.

You are giving opinions on the way you think things happened and he is giving knowlege based on past events. I hope you can at least see the difference. One is called wisdom. Personally i think his metaphor is dead on.

I am all about listening to people with differing opinions, but you don't have to be such a jerk about it.

And just for the record, 20 players on one team equials 3 hours of gameplaning.
6 players on 2 teams equals 6 hours if you are going to devote the same amount of energy, so yeah a huge difference in time spent.

I appreciate the way you bring forth your position. I don't think anyone is disputing the benefit of first-hand knowledge, I just don't think that someone should be ignored and/or belittled because they don't have it. The world was built on second-hand knowledge. You don't have to agree with me, you may think I'm crazy, but not allowing people to talk (or not listening) never helped anyone. At the least it gives people the chance to rationally and politely explain why they think differently. As the new kid, my opinions aren't so firm that I can't be convinced I'm wrong.

I do think I know what I'm talking about, because all I've been talking about so far is personal preferences. What I find funny is that in the grand scheme of things, I'm only very slightly miffed about the all-in-one team. For me it's a point for discussion, but nothing to really complain about. It's other peoples' reactions to my (I think) mild original post that have me a little worked up.

Seriously, his metaphor is not only vague and innacurate, it's deliberately and unnecessarily insulting. If you really think it's appropriate (for the point he was making or discussion in general), I have more issue with that than with any decisions regarding team-building. And if I've been a jerk to anyone (and I don't think I have), it's only because I feel I have been personally attacked for having and voicing a different opinion than the majority.

I don't know where you dug up those numbers, so I'll assume they are based off your own experience. (So you have tried both ways?) I don't see how they could be accurate (though, certainly, focusing on 2 different teams in different divisions will increase the overall load - though I would hope the GM of the 2nd team would be helping with the planning - or did you mean running 2 teams?), but as I haven't got the personal experience or other peoples' testimony to compare to, I'll take you at your word.

My original post was not directed at you in general Sonny, but more at ALL the people that seem to have been dogging on the Fins. It's unfortunate if you took it personally, because it was not meant to come across as an attack on you. Sorry that I cannot compose good enough that my tone comes across correctly, but it was in NO way an attack on you.

I was more trying to state my point that while I dont enjoy getting throttled by the Fins, its just part of the game. Its also funny that everyone rides him, I can only guess from his success, and totally leaves Cleveland out of the discussion. The Fins will probably move up next season and we will have a new batch of similar teams coming up from BBB who are just as strong or even stronger.

That was my fault. I wasn't sure, but I had been called out by name earlier in the page, and I erred on the side of narcissism.
