It's pretty sad that only 3 teams from A#4 lion moved up, especially considering 4 teams from vastly weaker elephant did. Imo no more than 2 elephants should have moved up, and 2 more lion squads should have gone up and been swapped to elephant. When lion's #6 and 7 teams were trouncing top 4 elephant teams by 70+ points... promoting the inferior teams sucks all around. The better teams got left behind to have a boring season of stomping their opponents by hundreds of points 3/4 of the games, and the elephant conferance teams were not ready. Unless you elephant promotees have replaced 75% of your rosters (which is not cool), you're in for some real tough seasons. :\

On a related note, without having even looked at the other lion conference teams, I guarantee all 3 teams from A#4 will make the playoffs, including...

It's the nature of the beast - the Elephant conference was weaker, so the top 4 teams could put up better records overall. And the #1 team lost in the conference semi's, which gave them a step up on getting advanced. If the Destroyers had lost in the 2nd round Lion would have had a better shot at promoting more teams.
It would be nice if being in a different conference but same league meant more - right now you almost may as well be in a different league - but it's not. It's pretty minor, though, compared to the other competitiveness issues. Hopefully the shift this season and next will help fix the new team situation, and the upper leagues are already in pretty good shape as designed.
