We are supposed to get credit for volunteer work towards our college loans. I'm not sure if this has been enacted yet or still is in the works, but I already volunteer and will have to continue volunteering during my grad school (going for a Masters of Social Work) so that will help out a lot. Also since Obama was a social worker himself (a community organizer) I know that he will do good things for the profession.

Gotta get you some of that government cheese, eh?

For people like me up in Canada, we've always looked south at you guys and were a bit jealous of your common sense in keeping your government small and a commitment to a free market orientation while our own country gradually became more and more socialist -- one of the things that always limited how far we went was the threat of becoming too uncompetitive with the US -- over the last couple of decades we were finally forced to slow the growth of our government and begin to pay down all our public debt but now we seem to be watching you guys head in the direction we finally came back from -- hopefully its just a passing panic attack / fad and you guys get back to your old selves before it helps bring the socialists up here back to life -- my kids and future grandkids won't be able to afford it
