Well of the top four teams I predicted at the start of the season three finished 1-3 and the other....well lets not talk about the Beatdown. Not bad considering how equal the league has been this season. We go into the playoffs with Karawang the favourites but two strong contenders to the crown in Padang and Hong Kong. The top three seeds should comfortably make it past round one and give us some excellent later matches. Its only a shame that only one can win when put any of the top three (and to be honest Tokyo and the Bucks) in Alpha and theyd have a huge chance at first.

So what were the surprises this season? The biggest I guess is the general awfulness of the Beatdown. Id say that Haiphongs awesome passing game was also shocking - nah Im shitting you that was one of the easiest things to predict. Back to seriousness and Id say maybe the biggest surprise this year was the surprise wins. Speaking only from the Bucks point of view - we lost 3 games this season where we outyarded teams comfortably. Im sure were not the only ones. The dominance of the powerback and the inability of the elusive back to stop fumbling meant that a lot of games were won by teams that shouldnt have been a factor. So yeah thats my biggest surprise.

So what of the one playoff game with uncertainity about it? Haiphong vs Tokyo. Both teams have nearly identical records and indeed if you account for statistical anomalies would be equal. We beat the Hellfighters earlier in the season but Tokyo are the only team to beat Karawang. Going into the playoffs this is the one matchup where both teams have a realistic shot at winning. Its going to be all about the pass and its going to take some excellent game planning by a DC to win this one for either side. Can Haiphong stop El Danimal the leading QB in the league? Can Tokyo stop the dual threats of Sticky Hands and Duma Elin?

Ill be fucked if I know.

Great write up Emp, I am really looking forward to the Tokyo-Bucks game!

At this point, I am actually unsure as to who I want to win. Either of you will be a huge challenge for Karawang if we make it past Vietnam

Well they beat you and you crushed us so Id be supporting the Bucks to be honest. Plus our owner kicks way more ass than theirs does.

Strange things happen in the playoffs at the best of times. I guess it would be nice to get another crack at them if possible, some unfinished business there. Still, just gonna sit on the fence for now lol

Without making an excuse, we know exactly what happened in the Bucks game on our end and it shouldn't happen again. Plus we have hammered out some of our inconsistencies. I'm fairly sure we can beat the Bucks this time around 48-24. We want another shot at Karawang as much as they want a chance at redemption.

If we can get past our first game, and barring and upset by Bangkok, the Hokies/Kamikaze game is going to be one to watch as we gave the Kamikaze their only loss of the season. I cannot wait to hopefully see that matchup again.

Didn't follow the other conference too much, although it does look like you guys have some great matchups which will lead to some good games.
