Forum > USA A Leagues > USA A #6 > Season 8 USA 6 Power Rankings - Week 12 New and Improved Version
Link

As the former power rankings had almost become unreadable (from a text standpoint) as well as irrelevant because as teams have played each other and the standings and power rankings look almost the same, we've gone to a new system.

Only counted are wins and losses against teams still mathematically eligible for the playoffs. Head to head still counts, but doesn't carry as much weight as it did previously. More weight is given to your record vs. the possible playoff teams.

Mighty is closing in on locking down a home playoff game in the West, but a big game with Virginia looms in two weeks.

In the East, the home playoff game seeds 3 and 4 are still very much in play. Louisiana State/Houston in two weeks will determine the 8th seed in the East likely.

Up for mathematical elimination from the playoffs:

Beantown will be eliminated with a loss in week 13, or wins by Steel City, Big Bear or Saginaw.

In the East, NJ Hitmen will be eliminated with a loss in week 13 or wins by Houston or Louisiana State.

I see a couple teams up there that don't have Mentone Beach next to them!

Next up.... Big Bear!

I pulled this out of the archive of page 6 just for you:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=1208108

Big Bear Avalanche at Mentone Beach Assault - Encarta Dictionary defines Avalanche as a rapid downhill flow of a large mass of something dislodged from a mountainside or the top of a precipice, especially snow or ice. Well except for the snow or ice part I think that pretty much sums up Big Bear’s season.

Avalanche ? – Assault ?

Nice job - and I like the cleaner format.

WEST
Coupla game featuring top 8 teams this week as we come down the homestretch. Don't know that any of these games will be all that close. Next weeks slate is much better in the West and East.

GOTW: #2 Corpus Christi and #5 Long Beach
GOTW2: #1 Mentone Beach and #8 Big Bear

In the West in top 11 action, we have:

#3 Bakersfield and LA Cobras
#4 Mighty and #9 Dallas
#6 Virginia and Washington
#7 Saginaw and Pittsburgh
#10 Beantown and Idaho
#11 Steel City and Eugene

EAST
Well, a few days ago, Texas would have been at least competitive with Enghave, but that's out the window. Don't know that I see a decent game other than Dirty and Houston, maybe Louisiana St. and NJ Hitmen. NJ Mobsters snuck Enghave earlier in the season, can they do the same to Sleepy Hollow?

Top 13 action:
#1 Tennessee and Atlantic City
#2 Boston and Philadelphia
#3 Enghave and #10 Texas
#4 Sleepy Hollow and #11 NJ Mobsters
#5 Dirty and #9 Houston
#6 St. Paul and Iowa
#7 Phoenix and #12 LA Bicycle Clowns
#8 Louisiana Tigers and #13 NJ Hitmen

GG Aces. You guys have improved since last season. I'm sure your record will show improvement next season as well (though because of the gutting and the Birds, you'll be stuck here).

They get stuck here every year, they def. deserve to move down and do pretty well.

Next season many of their games will be close. Two seasons from now, I see playoffs as long as people don't leave. They are to be admired though. Few teams (or owners) will stick together after so many tough seasons.

Completely agree. The Aces ownership and players are a tough group that are probably a season or two from being in the right league. I really don't like running up the score on them but if I we didn't (and we could've kept it closer) we're criticized for being weak.

Seriously, GG, Aces.

thanks for the support guys. I was seriously considering just selling it all off and quitting. we knew when we picked this team up it was going to be tough. since most of the players we have that are the lower leveled guys are my RL friends, its more than tough to just go and get better leveld guys.

we tried the higher level experiment at a few positions and really saw the difference with higher levels not being good builds vs. a lvl 16 CB with a good build.

Some of our players have some serious character with sticking it out so far. I think it speask to the GMs and ownership... which in truth isnt just me that we ar eable to treat folks fair and honest. I am looking to get a few more upgrades at certain positions. Hopefully money, which we have in spades will start to mean something soon. because promising free equipment really doesnt bring in quality players eitehr.

thanks for the support.

btw, I have some PMs from support saying they have no idea why we havent been demoted to BBB for the last four seasons. apparently Bort is the one that does that. however several developer mods have PMd me supporting us getting demoted. hwoever, I dont see it happening.

^ Here's to hoping that you do. I expect you'll be in the top 3 within the BBB leagues. There isn't anything like a winning season to cure your blues and keep you going. That would allow you to be competitive when you next rose to A6.
