Haven't done these for about a week because I was working a ton of overtime but after looking over some of them from this season I decided to do something a little different. From now on I'm going to take the 3 closest and biggest "storyline" games from the whole league and do more in depth recaps instead of doing 8 half assed recaps. This should make it a little easier for me to do them since I won't have to watch games vs. guts and such. Without further ado, the week 11 recaps.

Game of the Week
Regensburg Steel Rain (7-4) at The Evil Empire (8-3) 16-22

The Death Star was pumping even before kickoff as the home team Evil Empire entered the stadium to a laser light show that killed 2,000,000 Alderanians when a stray shot hit the nearby planet's oceans boiling them along with the peaceniks. Inside the Death Star a similarly gruesome fate was dealt to the Steel Rain when the Empire's K Patrick Bateman V.P. showed the ice in his veins with a game winning field goal with just under two minutes to play from which Regensburg never recovered in this battle of two 7-3 teams. Bateman was deadly throughout the contest nailing all five of his FG attempts (46, 37, 46, 49.5, 27.5) and the extra point after Steel Rain QB Willie aka "Steamin" Beamen misread the defense and was rewarded with a 43 interception returned to the house by Evil CB Return Of the Mack early in the first quarter. Standout Empire LB Crush Jurass was all over the field with 14 tackles, a forced fumble and a PD.

Upset Special Alpha
Passion Fruits (9-2) at Torpedo Cowthorpe (6-5) 23-41

The 28,690 rabid fans at The Gun Deck were overjoyed when the spunky Cowthorpe handily upset the visiting Passion Fruits ending their 9 game winning streak and avenging some tough words which have recently been slung at the Torpedo faithful. The Passion Fruits entered with an impressive 9-1 record and led through the first half mostly on the strong leg of K WuTang IsForTheKids but Torpedo came out swinging in the second half scoring on two consecutive fumbles by Passion KR Hernando Peligroso to powerhouse Cowthorpe LB / Special Teams star BoneSaw Booker the first of which was recovered by SS Buster Salazar for a 39 yard yard go ahead fumble recovery touchdown. Torpedo then put up a bevy of points scoring 27 in the final half and sealed the game with an interception of Fruits QB iBomb Atomically by Cowthorpe CB Ethan Hawk with under a minute to play.

Upset Special Zeta
Olympus Immortals (6-5) Bavarian Motor Works (8-3) 41-27

With their backs up against the wall to secure a playoff spot the Olympus Immortals called down the fury of the gods upon the home team Bavaria and all of the delicious microbrews available at The Autobahn could not remove the sour taste of upset from the fans' mouths. The Motor Works broke onto the scoreboard first and managed to take a 6 point lead into halftime but the Immortals pulled away in the third quarter as the Olympus QBs Travis Lulay and Johnny Flinger hit their stride and their WRs for 2 second half TDs. The Immortals defense kept Bavaria on their backs with DE Unstoppable Pass Rush and DT Tommie Bear Harris each notching 2 sacks with 3 of the 4 sacks coming in the second half.

Awsome writeup. Thanks

Man that was a tough game and our luck just seemed to run out. I think the Evil Empire is really kind of...

Well...

EVIL!

Man Ocho that game was way closer than the final score indicates!!! Our 2 minute drill needs some serious work. We tried a WR SCREEN???? Then we went and passed a super short one to the WR and then to top it off on 4th and 9 we don't even run a play long enough to make the 1st down. That was rather annoying and we'll try to get that right before next time we meet.

GG though!!

This season for alpha has been all about balancing those ups and downs, and never riding the "down" slide for too long before righting your ship.
