A lot of theories have been stated above but here's where the rubber hits the road. Do the rankings support reasonable projections of how badly 1 ranked team will beat another (which demonstrate that the rankings themselves are correctly balanced, because otherwise it would be impossible to make any accurate score predictions)?

This is kind of fun. What started as a difference of opinions on one or two teams, has turned into an East/West debate.
Shame we only have the Week 1 and Championship games to go on for a true measuring stick. Although the East won more games in Week 1, the West took the games involving better, higher ranked teams.
