You've got strength which is the main thing. But I wouldn't worry about pancakes. They don't really mean anything. Do you make holes and prevent hurries and sacks? That's what's important.
yeah, pancakes are overrated since they are the only stat that shows up. you can get very few pancakes and still be a very effective lineman. watch the pbp to get deeper...
To elaborate, the first thing I look at each game is did our QB get sacked, then to the play by play to see why, and if it was my OT that got beat. It hardly ever is.
and look at the rushes. is your guy getting a push inside, maybe getting downfield to block down on a LB on some plays? or is his guy on D getting penetration and making tackles?
