Week 7 is here and the race to the playoffs just got a little more interesting with Bratislava getting surprised by the Deloreans in a close game dominated by great defense. The Butchers' loss was the only one by a top contender, leaving the standings still jumbled up with one loss teams for another week.

Berlin Hounds from Hell vs Mombasa Wombats: This game would be game of the week quality were it not for the serious mismatch between these two teams. Despite Kutzy's little game of depth chart tomfoolery, the Hounds have a serious advantage in overall quality against the Wombats. Mombasa has done a great job so far at winning the close games, particular with last week's late game heroics to pull out the victory and Maribor, but the Hounds should continue their dominance this week.

Macedonian Lions vs WhatsaMatta U Fighting Elk: With only one loss so far this season, the Lions are on track to pick up a high playoff spot as we come up on the middle of the season. The Elk have so far had little success against their opponents, but have had a tough schedule to start the season. This week is a last big challenge before an easier run of games ahead, but the Lions won't allow the Elk to rise to the occasion. Macedonian is a much stronger team offensively, and will put the game out of reach as quickly as they can.

Maribor Triforce vs South City Chiefs: Maribor lost a close game due to a pair of huge touchdown passes late in the game that put it out of reach. The Chiefs could barely put down the 1-5 Wolfpack, and although the two teams are familiar and should play each other close, it doesn't bode well for South City's chances against the rest of the conference that they only won by a point. Both teams have had their struggles, but Maribor has proven themselves a tougher opponent to beat. The Triforce should be able to improve their record this week.

Bratislava Butchers vs Warsaw Wolfpack: The Butchers were brought back down to earth a bit after a tough loss to Hill Valley. Despite keeping the game close, a costly turnover and an inability to get points on the board quickly enough gave the Butchers a long day. The Wolfpack couldn't take advantage of a close matchup against a familiar foe, and allowed the Chiefs to break off big gains on the ground for scores. The Wolfpack have a long way to go before they can be taken seriously, and hope to get it started by defeating the Butchers, but Bratislava is angry about their loss and hope to take out their revenge upon the poor Wolfpack, who just happen to be in way. Bratislava gets the win this week.

Kazakhstan Dragons vs Prague Beersteins: The Beersteins pulled off a surprising win against the Offtopics, while the Dragons took a severe beating at the hands of the Bucks. While the win enables Prague to rise above the ranks of the chump teams, they should enjoy it while it lasts. Despite a poor starting record, Kazakhstan should have little difficulty handling the Beersteins. They are a better team in many categories, and I simply can't give much credit to a Prague team that lists top player threats as a kicker, a punter, and a level 22 halfback. Obviously that is in no way a good indicator of a team's quality, but it just doesn't inspire any confidence.

Secretville Offtopics vs Cypriot Freedom: The Offtopics get a much needed break this week against the Freedom. This could be an opportunity for them to try out some new tactics or gameplans, but they had better not screw around too much, or they run the risk of dropping one of the only easy games they get this season.

Jefferson City Bucks vs Maladorous Football Beavers: The Bucks, on the other hand, could damn near sit every starter and still come away with an easy win against BigRagu's smelly Beaver. Instead, they will likely try to put up some huge numbers and improve their place in the power rankings, as well as give some players the opportunity to go for individual trophies.

Zeta Conference Game of the Week - Hill Valley Deloreans vs Czechoslavakia Mates: This game earns the spotlight due to it's overall unpredictability. Hill Valley's only loss this season has been to a true league championship contender, Arkadak Arsenal, while the Mates have dropped two games to playoff contenders, but not championship caliber teams. However, Czechoslavakia has been able to pull off some big wins when it counts, and are only at a disadvantage in rush defense according to the official matchup. Hill Valley is poised for a big playoff run at this point, having proven that they are not as one-sided offensively as they appeared and adapting their defense to stop a powerful Butchers run game. With such a closely matched opponent in the Mates, Hill Valley will adapt again and find a way to win.

Once again, an exciting week of interesting matchups that could turn into upsets. My predictions for last week proved my own fallibility, but luckily I only do these previews for funsies. As always, opinions are like *ssholes, everybody's got one, they all stink, so post your stinky opinions right here along with mine and have another excellent week in GLB world.

... looking around, trying to find the other playoff contender, but non-championship caliber team that beat the Czechoslovakia Mates, since one had to be the Kazakhstan Dragons... I only saw one, prior to the Hill Valley Deloreans game *shrug*.
