Correctly predicted 15 of 16 games (the only game I missed - Texas City winning over poopoohead's team, poopoohead's rankings also had his team higher; poopoo's rankings had Virginia well ahead of Long Beach which was a huge error and I got that game right)
Got very closer to actual score on 6 games:
Beantown I predicted would win by 130 they won by 145
Big Bear I predicted a "rout" they won by 255+
Long Beach I predicted would win by 10 they won by 17
Steel City I predicted a "rout" they won by 255+
Houston I predicted would win by 31 they won by 38
Phoenix I predicted would win by 77 they won by 66
Poopoohead doesn't even make predictions, so I win by default
Overall the key reasons why my ranking were better:
1) KEY GAME: Long Beach over Virginia
We both had Long Beach ranked 9th (technically I had them as #8b but not important) - poopoohead had Virginia ranked #7 and I had Virginia #12. I predicted Long Beach over Virginia by 10; in fact, Long Beach won by 17.
2) I correctly predicted 15 of 16 games and had very close scores on 6; poopoohead didn't predict games at all
I put poopoo's rankings after mine, for reference. His rankings do ok with the very best and very worst teams, but he has no concept how to rank the teams that are somewhat difficult to rank, and require a bit of skill. Without further ado, here's what I consider to be a FAR superior set of rankings:
WEST
1) Mentone Beach Assault (pp-1) some of us other teams in the West were hoping they might not be so dominant against better quality teams, but no luck for us as they trounced the Chihuahuas
2) Corpus Christi Illegal Aliens (pp-2) showing improvement every game
3) Mighty Chihuahuas (pp-3) despite the huge loss to Mentone Beach, still a clearly better performance than other teams below them
4) Bakersfield Nanananas (pp-4) squeaked past Detroit with a 4 point win
5a) Detroit Revolvers (pp-11) Have played a tough schedule and been very competitive.
5b) Long Beach Dub All-Stars (pp-9) the loss to a rapidly improving Dallas squad two games ago is the only poor performance on their record
7a) Steel City Sentinels (pp-10) undefeated, but the larger than expected defeat the Rex took from the Illegal Aliens this past game makes the Sentinels 1 point squeaker over the Rex 2 games ago a bit less impressive
7b) Beantown Bastards (pp-5) the most consistent of the remaining teams; current favorite to round out the playoff group
9a) Dallas Hitmen (pp-8) first 2 games were very bad including a 7 point loss to Big Bear, but last 3 games have shown improvement including a 3 point win over higher ranked Long Beach
9b) Idaho Rex (pp-12) Lost to Steel City by only 1 two games ago but trounced by CCIA by 48 last game
11) Big Bear Avalanche (pp-6) solid organization but has struggled this season
12) Virginia George Washingtons (pp-7) This was a very good team last season that looked good in game 1 but terrible since then; this team could rebound but right now they are struggling mightily
13) Los Angeles Cobras (pp-15) have shown much more improvement than other cellar dwellers
14) Eugene SLUGs (pp-14)
15a) Pittsburgh Stillers (pp-13)
15b) Washington Bow Chicka Brown Cows (pp-16)
EAST
1) Tennessee Fury (pp-1) game 1 was a very mediocre showing but have shown dramatic improvement
2) Boston Bears (pp-2) did poorly game 1 but like Tennessee have shown dramatic improvement
3) Sleepy Hollow Horsemen (pp-3) games 3 & 4 Sleepy Hollow looked bad but this most recent game they looked outstanding - like a completely different team; unlike poopoohead I react quickly once a team shows it deserves a different ranking
4) New Jersey Mobsters (pp-9) hot and cold team played well games 1 & 3, and struggled games 2 & 4; game 5 was a freebie: lost by 1 point game 4 against Phoenix but ranked a bit higher based on a bit better performance over the season, and the closeness of the score
5a) Enghave Evolution (pp-10) after a woeful game 1, Enghave has improved greatly; they beat Sleepy Hollow by 3 in game 4 and had a freebie last game
5b) Phoenix Scorpions (pp-8) a mighty franchise last season that is hopefully in the process of getting back on track
5c) Dirty Cheetahs (pp-4) thumping they took last game was their worst performance of the season
8a) Saint Paul Vulcans (pp-5) lost to the Cheetahs by 13 three games ago and beat the Tighas by 10 two games ago; thumped badly last game
8b) Louisiana State Tighas (pp-7) seem to be cooling after a decent start
10a) Texas Wrecking Crew (pp-6) surpassed Louisiana State by 2 points this past game, but still lower ranked because of Louisiana State's better performance over the course of the season and the closeness of the score
10b) Houston Toxins (pp-12) they may be primed for a push up the rankings; 3 of the 4 past games have been freebies and the other they was a 10 point loss to Sleepy Hollow
12) Iowa Hogeyes (pp-11) had a very nice showing game 1, but looked very bad since then
13) Philadelphia Birds (pp-15)
14a) Los Angeles Bicycle Clowns (pp-14)
14b) NJ Hitmen (pp-13)
16) Atlantic City Aces (pp-16)
I will back up these rankings by making some predictions about upcoming games - I'm waiting for them to post the matchups to make it easier for me.
