Ok first the 2 games of the week lived up to the billing. We had 3 games in all that was fantastic. Did bort do something with the scoring this season? The scores seem to be in control with not to much outragous high scores. I like the games a lot better this season.

Second the games of the week shows why the next thing Bort needs to do is create the ability to go for 2. Manitoba......errrr (damn name change) Chilliwack could have tied it up at the end and forced Montreal to score again or go to ot. Hogwarts would have went for 2 at 36-35 to try to make it a 3 point game and Port Royals FG would have only sent it to ot instead of winning it.

Rk- Team----------record---------Last ranking------next game-----final games--write up

-----Conference title contenders-------

#1 Montreal Rulers------------------(3-0)-----(1)--------#13 Medicine Hat Mavericks-----They had this one wrapped up leading by 22 at one point but they let the Heads get back in the game and give them a scare.
#2 Yellowknife Eskimo Hunters---(3-0)-----(3)---#6 Hogwarts Wizards---------They took care of business with the Gamecocks and now take over that dreaded number 2 spot that nobody has held for longer than a game. The Hunters could face the same fate taking on a mad Wizards team that just lost on a FG with 17 seconds left.
#3 Port Royal Acadians------------(3-0)----(6)----#14 Vancouver Northern Lights---How can I deny these guys any longer? All they do is win and against quality teams. Should easily move to 4-0 against the lights.
#4 Chilliwack Fighting Flapping Heads--(2-1)--------(2)-----#7 Montreal Mutants------I thought about keeping these guys as high as number 2. My final decision was to drop them down to 4 for now for 2 reasons. 1) The 2 wins were against lesser opponents. 2) Despite only losing by one point to the number 1 team, they trailed 45-23 with 6:50 left in the 3rd quarter. It took a lot of help for Chilliwack to get back in the game and when the clock ran out Montreal was in the redzone ready to score again.
#5 Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen----(2-1)--------(5)------#10 Manitoba Direwolves---RCKY started another winning streak by destroying RC. They stay locked into the 5 spot this week as they quietly watch all the movement around them.
#6 Hogwarts Wizards-----------(2-1)-----(4)-------#2 Yellowknife Eskimo Hunters-----They have to be mad. After scoring a TD with a little over a minute left they thought they had the game wrapped up, but the D could not hold giving up a 47 yard HB pass that 4 guys had a shot at tackling him early in the play.

-------Playoff bubble teams--------

#7 Montreal Mutants---------(3-0)------(7)---------------#4 Chilliwack Fighting Flapping Heads------Ok here it is for the Mutants if they want to be taken seriously in this league. Are they a bottom half playoff team or are they the real deal? Here is a chance to catch the Heads with there pants down and still talking about a 1 point loss.
#8 New Colgne Bears--------(2-1)----(8)-----#12 USAORG Eagles------Bears continue to do their part to make the playoffs again. This time they just need to handle business against the Eagles.
#9 Cardinal Redbirds--------(1-2)--(9)-------#16 Ottawa Jaguars-------Wow. The redbirds trailed the Direwolves 34-13 before scoring 24 unanswered points including the game winning FG in OT. Take a breath now boys beacuse this is your bye week.
#10 Manitoba Direwolves------------(1-2)-----(11)---#5 Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen-------------Why didn't they kick a FG at the end of regulation to try to win it? Why didn't they try running the clock more in the second half? RCKY is just too tough for them to beat.
#11 Saskatoon Fighting Gamecocks--(0-3)---(10)---#15 RC Gladiators----They finally catch a break and should pick up their first win of the season.

----------The playoffs seem to be out of reach-------------

#12 USAORG Eagles--------------(1-2)------(12)------#8 New Colgne Bears-------------They played the Mutants tough and pulling an upset over the bears isn't out of the realm of possibility. In fact I think this might be my upset pick of the week.
#13 Medicine Hat Mavericks------(1-2)-----(14)------#1 Montreal Rulers------The Mavs did a great job of handling up on the Lights. It will be a short celebration though as they now have to play the Rulers.
#14 Vancouver Northern Lights----(0-3)-------(13)-------#3 Port Royal Acadians---It is sad to see my biggest rival over the last 4 seasons fall on hard times like this. Now I guess we will be looking for a new rival as the Lights might move down after this season. I thought it would be the Manitoba Nighthawks but they have become the Chilliwack Fighting Flapping Heads and the very forum active owner Blaize has been nonexistant on this forum. Blaize were oh were are you? I need a rival.

------Headed down to BBB-----

#15 RC Gladiators---------------(0-3)--------(15)------#11 Saskatoon Fighting Gamecocks------Should hold the Gamecocks to under a 100 points.
#16 Ottawa Jaguars------------(0-3)--------(16)------#9 Cardinal Redbirds------------Looking to help the Redbirds in their playoff push.

Games of the week:

#2 Yellowknife Eskimo Hunters (3-0) vs #6 Hogwarts Wizards (2-1) - Only game involving the big six. The Wizards lost a close one last game and will look to rebound against a team that is flying high. 2-2 is not a good place to be early.

#4 Chilliwack Fighting Flapping Heads (2-1) vs #7 Montreal Mutants (3-0) - The Mutants are looking to change the big six into the big seven and a good way to do that is by beating the team that just lost to the number 1 team by one point. Respect is their's to earn.

look at the matchup--- why are the gladiators getting annihilated weekly when they matchup with their opponents? shouldn't the scores at least be a bit closer?

I just wanted to say thanks for covering the western conference.

Its an important part of the game experience...I know I am not the only one who enjoys reading your team breakdowns.

This is my first season in with this team and with "Canada" in general. Being able to read up on these teams from someone who has been able to follow them awhile is a very nice bonus to being here.

Keep 'em coming!
