1. (0) Wurzburg Minions-of-Zeus 3-0
Wurzburg picked up another nice win against a decent team. Nashua will be playoff bound and the Burg made quick work of them while keeping it in 3rd gear. Eye Ooze continued his strong showing with another big game, wracking up 188.5 yards and 2 TDs on 6 catches to bring his league leading yards and TD up to 527.5 and 9 respectively. We'll see if the Burg will have to kick it up another notch against the Mammoths this week or if they'll be able to continue to cruise to an easy victory.
2. (0) Jersey Mammoths 3-0
Jersey won big in this one. The final margin was 9 but the Sharks scored all 21 of their points in the 4th including a TD with 18 seconds left. Jersey relied heavily on their run game in this one and it was very effective. The Sharks were obviously not prepared for the Mammoths one sided attack. Jersey will have to add a few more tricks to their bag if they want to keep it close in their trip to Wurzburg.
3. (0) Indianapolis Stampede 3-0
They're still cruising in Indianapolis. They've hit the mid way point in a 6 game stretch of cupcakes and there have been no surprises. This week's victim was the lowly LAZER LIGERS. They won't face much more resistance in next week's opponent either as they take on London Man-Dem. The week after could provide a bump in the road in the Hellboys, but probably not.
4. (+1) Madrid Matadors 3-0
Crushing the Thunder was a nice stat padder for the Matadors but doesn't mean much else. They will get another chance to put up big numbers this week as they take on the Red Dwarfs. Then they face their first real test in Budapest the week after. They have had nice balance in Madrid so far and we'll see if they have really returned to the elite when they take on Stampede in week 7.
5. (+1) Budapest Tizenhetedikkerület 3-0
A 14 point victory over the Hellboys is nice but it probably should have been a wider margin. They'll cruise again this week and then we'll really get a chance to see what they are made of when they take on the Matadors in week 5. Budapest has looked strong so far though. They have had success behind a strong rushing attack and a solid rush defense.
6. (-1) Mannheim Sharks Profi 1-2
The Sharks were unable to get it done in their second big game of the season. They were just worn down by Jersey's ground attack and really let the opposition control the clock. They did explode for 21 points in the 4th though, so maybe they'll be able to parlay that into some momentum. Luckily enough, they have a 3 game stretch where points will be easy to come by and they already have faced 2 of the 4 teams that have a real shot at beating them, so the next 13 games are only looking up.
7. (0) Natal Hellboys 2-1
Losing by 14 is not so bad when you look at the talent gap between them and Budapest. Despite that, not being able to win that game dooms them to a 7th seed at best. The other 5 teams above Budapest are only stronger, so it is difficult to imagine Natal keeping it close against those teams. They still have a shot at beating Nashua and capturing that 7th seed though. Until then though, they have an easy game against the Empire due up and then a tough one verse the Stampede.
8. (0) Nashua Pride 1-2
Much like the Sharks, Nashua has to be happy that they have two of the top teams out of the way at least. Unlike the Sharks, I think the Pride could be beaten by any of the playoff bound teams. Nashua is just a step behind the elite and unless they make major upgrades, they will stay there. They get a break for the time being though as they take on the Thunder and the Red Dwarfs in back to back games.
