I'm back, with a completely new formula that I THINK will prove much more accurate than last season's excessively simplifed one.

Wins are now based on a formula involving both yours and your opponent's scouting bars. Losses are simply chained to the opponent's record. What this yields is a reward for beating equal and higher level teams, without excessive punishment for being blown out by higher quality teams.

Both scouting and chemistry also play a core role in the overall ranking. As we saw last year, a couple of teams came up out of nowhere late in the season because their chemistry improved.

But enough about the geek stuff. Let the debates begin.

1) Diaper Vipers (90.15)
2) Kiev Flames (88.71)
3) Chernobil Stalkers (86.62)
4) Sopron Stars (86.59)
5) Athens Olympians (84.84)
6) Warsaw Sabotage (84.54)
7) Rampage ZETA (82.01)
8) Krakow Calvary (79.46)
9) Texas City Storm (79.43)
10) Ofdensen's Army (78.51)
11) Leningrad Iron Fists (78.25)
12) Teutonic Knights (75.25)
13) Chernobyl Aftermath (70.5)
14) Donetsk Hammers (69.3)
15) Ledeberg Zeppelins (69.88)
16) Crete Minotaurs (63.0)
17) John Madden's All Madden Team (61.66)
18) NFL Fanatix (60.0)
19) Kaufbeuren KNights (60.0)
20) Rampage ALPHA (54.75)
21) Victorious Secret (54.0)
22) Szolnok Soldiers (53.5)
23) Saratov Scoregasm (52.5)
24) Winchester Bandits (51.75)
25) Riga Raptors (50.75)
26) Bratislava Zabijaks (50.5)
27) Bisons Sentinels (50.0)
28) Bergen Storm (47.5)
29) Chucktown Panthers (47.0)
30) Grodno Pirates (43.75)
31) Chernobyl Fallout (38.75)
32) Everett Wildcats (25.0)

Yes, it's mostly delineated in who won and lost this weak, with the exception of Madden, who actually comes in lower than the top 1-loss team - and I doubt anyone, including Madden, would argue they deserve to be higher, based on their scouting and chemistry bars.

This formula will get better. Thanks for putting this together. We'll find out soon who is better between Kiev and Diaper. Chernobil Stalkers are a good team as well. I would move Athens over Sopron. Everything below that will work itself out soon enough.

We (Diaper Vipers) have a pretty good match-up with the Aftermath in the morning.

RIght now, ultimately, the 0-1's are all governed by their scouting and chemistry bars, because they all lost the same number of points for their respective losses. However, the teams that lose to a 16-0 will wind up with much better results than teams who lost to 1-15's.

Not only that, but just about everyone will wind up near 100 chem by the end of the season, so that will become a non-factor, as it should ultimately be.

A little flawed ranking system imo, I think chem is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too important

Athens has enough studs to overcome the chemistry issue.

...that's exactly what I'm saying.

Too much weight is being put on chemistry and/or not enough is being put on levels/bars/whatever.

Personal opinion.. if 2 identical teams played(levels/bars/builds/tactics), 1 with great chem and the other with horrible, the great chemistry would win.
JaimeVick is right though, you guys have a enough stud players to do very well this season.

After a few games Griffin should have more input to make a better Power Ranking out of. This is probably why the BCS waits until Week 8 to put our their rankings, more information.

I appreciate what he's doing for everyone, but I'm ignoring the results until at least Week 5.

I understand they're fairly meaningless at this point and obviously in general as it only matters what you do on game day. The point I'm making is we're tied for the highest rated team in the League and yet we're 5th because of bad chemistry? We aren't an "identical" team with Stars, Flames or Stalkers, we're better than all of them in bars. So what's dragging us down? Chemistry.

As the blowout win today showed, against the team ranked 2 spots higher than us, Chemistry doesn't make THAT big of a difference. That our +3 overall or +6 in the Stars case isn't completely negated and then some by bad chemistry. I don't see what the dispute is. It's pretty obvious that chemistry has too much weight in these rankings if we're #5.

Chemistry only counts a max of 25 points (100 chem) in this system. Overall scouting is scored at a 1:1 ratio.

There are many, many other things involved here. It'll all shake out, though. I'm pretty well certain that, by week 5, these will be pretty close to dead accurate.

And right after making that cocky-ass statement, I went back over the formula and found a tweak I realized needed to be fixed.

I was calculating game points by chaining your scouting bar to your opponent's scouting bar. I've changed that to eliminate your own scouting bar as a relativity point, because, ultimately, if two teams that suck get together, the winner shouldn't get massive points for winning, they should get points relative to the quality of their OPPONENT.

So yeah, things will be different when I post this week's rankings in about an hour.
