Can you explain your formula? Atleast let us know what variables are being used to calculate.

I'll do my best to explain it out. Its easier for me to see in Excel formulas, but will try to write it out. If it becomes too hard to follow, your good at breaking down excel spreadsheets, and it is of monumental importance that you understand, then send me a PM with an email address, and I'll send the spreadsheet im using.

The ranking is comprised of 3 numbers.

The first is a culmination of record and Strength of schedule. Its forumula is :

RecordValue = (#ofWins x 1.5)+(#ofWins x WinStrength)+(#ofLosses x LossStrength)

where
WinStrengh = ((Total Wins of all opponents that team has beat)/(Total Games Played of all opponents that team has beat)) | (0 if team has not won)
LossStrengh = ((Total Wins of all opponents that team has Lost to)/(Total Games Played of all opponents that team has Lost to))| (1 if undefeated)

The second Value is for Margin of Victory. Its forumla is :

VictoryValue = (AverageMarginofVictory^1)/35 x (#ofWins/#ofGames)*Weekweight

Weekweight = #ofGames * .3 - This keeps the relative value of of margin of victory relatively consistant as the # of games increases.

DefeatValue = (AverageMarginofDefeat^1)/35 x (#ofLosses/#ofGames)*Weekweight*-1

^1 Margin of Victory and Defeats for any single game is limited to 35 points. Blowouts by more than that are as much morale based as actual skill based, so limited to this for powerrankign purposes.

Ranking = RecordValue + VictoryValue + DefeatValue

Thanks. When I did the math I came up with 17.14159 for the destroyers. Its quite possible I messed something up though.

I'm not going to go hand calculating them out.

I built the spreadsheet so I can just copy/paste the weeks results and Bam, powerrankings.

Anyways, nice rankings. MXCA has had a tougher schedule and I can definitely see how that would put them higher than us.

Thanks for the effort in putting this together. I'm not going to complain about being ranked 2nd, but I must say I was surprised to see us higher than Dubrovnik; they shut us down completely in week 3

I've tried to think of a way to implement a head to head multiplier, but since teams do not all play each other, nothing I could think of made mathmatical sense.

It mostly comes down to the fact that MXCA's only loss was to a team that is 8-1, which is nothing to upset about. The Destroyers only loss came to a team that is 4-5, a team that they clearly should have outmatched. So the weight of the MXCA loss is far less than the weight of the Destroyers loss. It should all equal back out in the end once everyone has been able to play everyone in each conference

That and the combined wins of the teams they beat is 34 and ours is only 27. I think these rankings are pretty accurate.
