This isn't a perfect theory, just something to help the new guys.

Str 90+ pretty obvious here. This gives the the Power to over power defenders.

80+ blocking. Yep contrary to popular belief blocking really is good. It makes you able to engage a defender at father distances, holds blocks longer, and give you the ability to "pop" a defender. the higher, certainly the better.

60 Speed. Speed is really under rated for linemen. Speed gives you the ability to react faster to the decisions your center and o- lineman makes.

60+ Agility. Agility keeps you in front of defenders. If you have the speed and blocking in place, with high agility, it makes that "pop" happen more often.

50+ stamina. Stamina is directly related to how well you can block. Also the more, the more plays you get.

50+ vision. Tied in with speed when you have the vision to see other "chances" you will react quickly and peruse. if you have no speed, Vision is completely useless for a lineman. you must have the speed to stay in front of the play, and the vision to see the play develop

50+ confidence. directly tied into how well you will block. Also makes your desicions more crisp and direct.

and finally the pancake s.a 8+

This is my personal opinion watching my own center develop. I know he plays in USA BBB now. During the course of his career he has never had less than 100 pancakes in a season, except season 2. he has played in AAA at one point and AA at another. Even in equal competition he pushes 10. I find as I am adding more agility and speed his pancakes are getting easier to obtain. they are both 55 right now.

This.

I had that build above, maybe like 90-95% of it, so not quite all the way up to those stats, and haven't had a pancake against reasonable opponents in 3 seasons or so. I can't say I agree with the above guide.

Here's the thing about pancakes. They are UNDERRATED. Huge impact in your running game. They simply are difficult to get consistently, so building for them is a risk that probably ends up making your build worse in the long run.

I'm fairly convinced the secret to pancakes is a good set of teammates on your line. I've been on a team since season 3, and every season the team pancake leader is the TE. At first I thought it was because he was on special teams, but he stopped doing ST duties and his pancake totals didn't drop. I've become convinced that he's getting pancakes because he's getting to the 2nd level. My G recently started getting some pancakes, and I noticed that they are largely coming off on plays where he's picking up a blitzer. For instance, in his last playoff game, he got two pancakes in the first two drives by jumping out to meet the lolb. I've more or less given up on the idea of pancaking dt's, but if I'm on a line where the C can handle the nt, I'm pretty confident that my pancake numbers will continue to go up as I get more speed and am able to get to the 2nd level more consistently.

Check out if it was against the NT or LBs. There are certain plays the RG takes on the NT and the C moves to block a LB or SS - then the pancakes are likely.

Pancakes come against gutjobs or against the LB/secondary (which are the equivalent of a gutjob D-lineman) - and the only thing that matters is the O-linemen's ability to get there. Against those guys the Pancake SA isn't even needed - it's overkill.

When you can get your Center pancaking non-gutjob D-linemen that are built decent then you have something. then again if you can do that I wouldn't tell a sole if you want him to be able to continue to do that. Draw as little attention to yourself as possible to avoid getting Borted or worse massproduced so you can get Borted.
