The last two undefeated teams in the league both suffer upsets in amazing games. This week I will be featuring a game from Zeta because of how great the game was. The playoff table is being set as we coast into the final two games of season 7 and this week the home team didn't fare so well going a horrid 2-6.

Ingolstadt Hat Tossers (12-2) at East Cairo Argonauts (13-1) 26-19

The Hat Tossers emerge victorious in the Battle of the Twinkletoes as East Cairo drops their first game of the season in front of 13,200 fans at Argonauts Stadium. The offensive coordinators of each team frustrated each other with long passes for TDs in the first quarter but the defensive coordinators quickly recovered and made this a defensive battle for the ages. The 4th quarter saw three lead changes and some bizarre timeouts but ECA was unable to capitalize and the game went into overtime tied. Each team got a chance to hold the ball in the final period but with just 2:00 minutes left in the game stud Ingolstadt HB Tiny Twinkletoes tore through a stacked defensive formation and burst down the field 53.5 yards for a winning touchdown. Twinkletoes ended the day with 175.5 yards on 41 carries and the aggressive Hat Tossers defense got to ECA QB Basil McRae 4 times.

Inverness Monsters (1-13) at Passion Fruits (13-1) 7-184

The Fruit Stand was rocking and rolling as the home team Fruits whipped their competition and ran the score up righteously. After being much maligned in the press this season Passion QB iBomb Atomically had the game of his life with 664.5 yards and 10 TDs against the badly out matched Monsters and future Hall of Fame DE Give You The Run-Around added 10 sacks and 11 hurries to his already gaudy season numbers.

Vatican City Fighting Popes (12-2) at Warfield Hellbringers (9-5) 41-21

Warfield struck first but Vatican City struck more often with this gutty win at the Warfield Inferno as the Fighting Popes roll to a big victory. Vatican City HB Da Speed took over the second quarter to give the Popes a lead with 115.5 all purpose yards and the two 2nd quarter TDS while the passing game finished Warfield off in the 4th quarter.

Stockholm Black Death (10-4) at Heidelberg Hitmen (8-6) 34-10

The potent Stockholm offense was too much for the Heidelberg defense as the Black Death put the Hitmen's playoff hopes in doubt with a solid win. Stockholm HB Jeremy Blitz has taken over the role of starting HB and was instrumental in the win with 29 rushes for 140.5 yards and 2 TDs but the play of the game came on defense when Dwight "Right In Your Eye" Johnson's pitch to Aleca Zam was met in the backfield by SS Mister Smiff who forced the fumble which was then recovered by Tilburg Dream castoff LB Seijuro Shin-san who ran it downfield for 34 yards and the score.

Red River Ruminants (9-5) at Qidan Beggar's Sect (0-14) 93-0

The Ruminants absolutely destroyed the Beggar's Sect in front of their 14,120 fans at the 33/20 Kehavit. Red River's workhorse HB Eustis 'Bunker' Hill played like it was June 17, 1775 with 5 TDs and 154.5 yards on the ground, while WR Travis Springs pulled down 6 receptions for 3 TDs and 108.5 receiving yards.

Cambridge Chieftains (6-8) at Nikopolis Stoic Hedonists (3-11) 54-17

The Chieftains enter the final two weeks of the season with a tough schedule but this victory over the Stoic Hedonist has to help the spirits of the gutsy Cambridge team. Cambridge HB and recap favorite Harold Butcher made the most of his 26 carries amassing 208.5 yards on the ground along with 2 receptions for an additional 11 yards and the game's final two touchdowns.

Barcelona Cock N' Bulls (6-8) at at Tilburg Dream (5-9) 41-3

Once again the fans at Brother of Steel Stadium watched the Dream underwhelm and throw in the towel as the Barcelona Cock N'Bulls demolish Tilburg. Barcelona HB Rusty Pipes was unstoppable with 191 yards on 30 carries and 5 TDs including a highlight reel run where he broke 6 tackles on his way to a 30 yard TD up the gut.

Zurich Lions (2-12) at Amsterdam Dragon's (4-10) 20-65

The Lions managed to score some points for the first time in three weeks but were unable to slow down Amsterdam as the Dragon's with the weird apostrophe win. The trio of backs in Amsterdam was devastating as HBs Marius Eriksen, Mike Alstott., and HORSE LBM combined for 7 TDs, 388 rushing yards and 119 yards receiving.

Bonus Game

London Rippers (13-1) at Prague Defenestrators (12-2) 16-19

London left the Defenestration Zone dejected and downtrodden for the first time this season as Prague puts up the upset on Zeta favorites the Rippers in a defensive battle where points were at a premium. Several lead changes in the fourth quarter set up an epic field goal attempt by Defenestrators K Bryan Egan Bunnell with just 1 second left from 43.5 yards out. The ball hit the right upright but somehow managed to fall across the goal post to end London's dreams of a perfect season as Prague proves that they are for real in a tough Zeta playoff field.

Great write up mere. Isn't the 8th spot pretty much set even if we don't pull out a win from one of our final 3? I mean other than barring a few miracle upsets from Cambridge or Tilburg?

Great write up Mere. You have written many really good ones but this was for sure one of the best. Lots of great lines in there.

s00n3r yeah you guys are all but a lock for a playoff spot.. rather depends on what method Bort is using for the tiebreaker this season. If its head to head you are already in, but if its something else then well, get your ass's down to Mens Warehouse pick up a tie and your golden for sure

I just looked at your schedule. You have already clinched. You own all the tie breakers so even if you lose out and the other teams win out you will be going to the playoffs.

always entertaining read although the play you linked to for your game with ECA was probably the most boring play of that game lol ..

Damn I screwed that up. It is fixed. It was meant to be the last play of the game but since I use the replay rewrite sometimes it does funny stuff like that.
