Alright, I know, I slacked, I missed like half the season. I'll do better in AA when the Niners (and a number of other teams in this league) get promoted, I promise.
Anyway, I carved this down to the top 16 for one simple reason: There's two games between #16 and #17 with three to go, and the closest three from the bottom don't have a snowball's chance in hell of making the cut. Yes, that's right, I'm calling it, what you're about to see is exactly who will be in the playoffs.
That said, the computer has predicted that the Players will lose their final three games and wind up the #8 seed in their conference. Sorry, guys, you're heading into the worst part of your schedule, and you haven't beaten anyone important to this point.
Lot has happened since our last installment of the rankings, so I'll just give you the numbers. Recaps can be found on our good buddy Khameleon's thread.
There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth over the rankings, but I'm telling you right up front, there are significant gaps in strength of schedule between these teams, significant enough to put a 9-4 team ahead of all the 10-3's, and significant enough to put a 11-2 team ahead of all but one 12-1.
So, without further adieu, I give you this week's top 16.
1) Butchers (596.0)
2) Off-Topics (539.7)
3) Gods of War (507.4)
4) Niners (430.5)
5) Raptors (364.7)
6) Chiefs (347.5)
7) Ironmen (306.2)
8) Doomsday (293.4)
9) Nightmare (227.2)
10) Yellowhammers (227.0)
11) Wolfpack (225.7)
12) Crusaders (151.5)
13) Guardians (150.8)
14) Pecs (142.7)
15) Players (63.4)
16) Syndicate (44.2)
Now, for those already wondering:
Doomsday's SoV is an incredibly stout 5.2 (raw score 47) which puts it miles ahead of the Nightmare (4.1/41), Yellowhammers (4.0/40), and Wolfpack (4.0/40) - the teams they beat were just straight up better overall, despite the one extra loss.
By the same token, Portland's SoV was a very strong 5.6, which put it well ahead of the Chiefs (4.6). Ironically, Portland suffered most of the season from a weak SoV, until they beat up on the Blaze, Players, and Ironmen since the last time we did these rankings.
And to the Raptors fans crying foul, all I can say is, run the table and you'll be fine - the worst part of your schedule is still in front of you - three playoff teams in a row.
BTW - the Butchers and OffTopics pretty much have sealed those top spots because, frankly, they beat everyone. Butchers get a monster boost because their non-con game was against the Niners in week 1, and the OT's likewise benefit from a win over the Raptors in week 2. Unless both teams have a sudden meltdown, they will be sitting at #1 and #2 at the end of the season.
