Zeta Conference had no surprises this week, with all the playoff teams facing decidedly weaker opponents this week. Secretville put up serious numbers on the Mariners, and allowed only a field goal, as they beat Chernobyl 154-3. The Butchers chopped the Warriors into little pieces, shutting out Sicilia 147-0. South City must be Florida fans, as they didn't let the Sooner Syndicate even into this game after the first quarter, trouncing them 118-26. Italy made short work of the Vetz, blanking them 140-0. Dresden halfback Joshua Silver played almost a one man show, picking up 724 rushing yards for 15 touchdowns, blowing out the Gargoyles 146-41. Warsaw "What chemistry issues?" Wolfpack dominated the Outlaws, 160-7. Berlin showed the endangered Silverbacks no mercy, defeating them soundly 140-10. Edinburgh squeaked into playoff contention with the loss by Sooner and a shutout of the sorry Gothenburg Flames, 73-0. The Syndicate will have to come up with some big wins if they want to prove they are better than a CPU team and make it into the playoffs.

In Alpha Conference, the Vorkuta Yellowhammers tried to hand the Warsaw Gods of War their second defeat in the Alpha game of the week. An early turnover in the second quarter shifted the momentum in Warsaw's favor, when cornerback C. Seneca II picked off Brady Quinn for a 41 yard touchdown return. The Gods of War took over at that point, keeping the game out of reach until the Hammers nearly pulled off some fourth quarter heroics. I'm sure Vorkuta is wishing for a two point conversion play in this game right now, as Warsaw got the win 34-33. Stalingrad also faced an opponent determined to give them another loss, but the Ironmen established themselves early against the Pecs of Steel, easily defeating them 52-24. The Warsaw Stampede (you know, there are more cities in Poland than Warsaw. Three teams in one league from the same city. Sheesh.) fought hard to get themselves another win and some hope at a playoff spot, but the P-burg Players weren't going to lie down for them. Down 21-20 at the half, the Players took over with a 33 point second half, rustling up the Stampede 53-35. Portland handed Saratov their fourth loss, defeating the Blaze easily 53-7. Tallinn had no trouble squashing Black Sea's rebellion, 144-7. Vilnius got all prehistoric on the Roid Pushers, beating Yugoslavia 129-21. The St. Petersburg Piranhas continue to fight for a bottom playoff spot, picking up their fourth win over the Kardinals, 77-17. Finally, in the battle of the bad teams, the Sioux City Bandits blanked the winless Tigers 56-0.

That's the roundup for Week 9, check back later tonight or tomorrow afternoon for the EEA4 Week 10 preview. It's time for me to watch some real football, the highly anticipated defensive maelstrom that will be the AFC Championship game. Go Ravens!

Warsaw Gods Of War = First Warsaw in EEA4... Stampede were probably named Warsaw first, but they were relegated in season 5, thus giving Alpha two Warsaw teams...

Yep, and there's a third one in Zeta. How fun does that make my job, tracking the three of you...

Especially when we are playing one another... even I get confused trying to keep up with that one when I'm looking back over it!
