I don't think so. You still would have been the best team in the Division and we would have been in the 6ish range.

No chance. I understand the whole chemistry thing, but considering the depth and talent we brought in, I still think the new Chicago is a bit better than the old.
But, of course we're gonna say that to defend our rebuild! ha.

hard to say, i think we could ahve been competitive, assuming we recruited some of the players we were targeting.
Our offense would have been strong as usual, we never had a problem moving the ball. we really improved on defense though, but it didn't seem to help!
our depth chart was pretty bad for that game, i take responsibility, definitely overestimated our depth. that 100% fixed though.

Here's my problem with with having chicago number 1.
Your chemistry is 15 - no matter how good your pick ups are, you will easily lose any early contest with equal or even reasonably close competition. Now, in the playoffs you may make a charge, but take it from somebody who's climbed out of the A leagues - chemistry is a freakin killer.
Sorry guys - that 15 chem is going to haunt you for awhile. But stick with it - the chemistry system was designed to prevent gutting and collusion, but now it's just a stupid relic of a time when GLB was a simpler game with far fewer players. My team was in your position in a7 back in season 5, although not because of a merger. I had just taken over the team and had to replace a lot of players going to other teams, which drop kicked our chem into the high 40s. We lost 3 games in the regular season before going off on a tear in the playoffs and winning it all. It's very, very frustrating when you know that something completely beyond your control is hindering your team, and there's nothing you can do but wait - but if you're patient you will find that you made a good move in the long run.
To answer the question though - Chicago definitely could not have beaten the Tornados pre-merger. But they will probably be capable of beating them once their chem refills.

Well I said capable - didn't say they would automatically, but if both teams had 100 chem, I could see a 5/5 split if the two teams played 10 times.
