Well here we are again at the business end of the season...the Alpha playoffs!!! Here is where some teams can earn their bragging rights..and others just wonder what might have been!!!

Congrats on our final 8 that will compete this season for the chance to play Zeta's champion..

Also congrats on Stockholm for coming no 1 at the end of the Alpha regular season!! Great job guys!!

Now to the games....

Stockholm Screamin Eagles (1st) v Roman Legion (8th) - Stockholm proved their mettle in the last week thumping the Sea Wasps and leaving no doubt they will be the team to beat in Alpha this season, The Legion are really only making up the numbers due to them reverting to a CPU team - The Eagles will already be looking at their second round game!! (Eagles by 100+)

Moscow Iron Curtain (4th) v D.C. Redskins (5th) - Both teams have improved - both teams deserve to be here.. Moscow beat the Redskins in a close one during the regular season but both team will be aware how close this matchup really is. As they have done all season the Redskins will rely on star QB Williams and star HB Sayers to score them points while Moscow will punch the ball foward with their RB combo Seacrest and Monster. On the D - the ability to get to the QB will be one of the keys to shutting down both teams potent offense...and that will mean star players such as DE The Comedian for Moscow and DE Chickie Waffle for D.C. will need to step up for the big game and do what needs to be done. Lastly how the coaches gameplan will be a big key as with the teams being fairly close in ability, the right play called might just tip the scales - This was a hard one to pick, but my gut is saying (Moscow by 3 points)

Tyrrhenian Sea Wasps (2nd) v Donetsk Hammers (7th) - The Seas Wasps have played above their weight all season and fully deserve to be in the playoffs in 2nd position. But don't anyone write off the Hammers..as I have said in my previous write up - I think these guys could be the "giant killers" of the Alpha playoffs. With the Seas Wasps coming off a disappointing loss to the Eagles last week, the Hammers rated higher in the matchup, and the fact they have already taken out some higher ranked teams in regular season - if QB Steele can rally his boys, keep his head and score points, the Hammers are in with a real chance. For the Sea Wasps DE Karpet Muncher will be looking to lay a hit on QB Steele every chance he gets and star DE You Betterrun will again come off the bench looking to add to his impressive 4 forced fumbles so far this year. For the Hammers QB Steele will be looking for his impressive WR core lead by Ben Cat and Tristifer "TriS" McCarthy to complete his passes, and the OL will need to man up and lay out the pancakes. The Hammers D work as a team and together they will need to be everywhere to make the crucial tackle or sack when required if they want to send the Sea Wasps packing. But in giving a prediction while I won't be surprised if the Hammers take this one, I think the telling factor will be the Sea Wasps impressive 98 overall team chemisrty that will see them through (Sea Wasps by 7)

Warsaw Warlocks (3rd) v Istanbul Raging Bulls (6th) - My boys the Warlocks have done their owner proud to make the playoffs but we will not be underestimating the Bulls especially considering they are higher rated in the matchup. For the Warlocks it will be relying on their big hitting OL to give star HB's Disco Dawson and Jeremiah Cool the room they need to dance and on the D the Warlocks have a strong front 7 that go hunting for the QB whenver possible. The Bulls on the otherhand have star QB Devils Advocate and HB Stewart leading the way and a strong OL. It remains to be seen if the Bulls D can slow down the high scoring Warlocks offense, plus QB Advocate will have to put his passes on the money and avoid the loose passing that has seen him throw a number of interceptions in the regular season. Now we see if the Bulls light on depth will make or break their playoff chances (Warlocks by 14)

Well guys thats the write ups for week one - can't wait for game time!!!

Great job, thanks! Congrats to all today's winners. I think Bort needs to do something about cpu teams making the playoffs though. I mean it was nice having a bye week, but Siberian Express should have been allowed a chance to get in on the action. It can't be that hard to program in taking out cpu teams. Good luck everyone with your next round games, well except Moscow that is, lol!
