What was suppose to be the Dresden Warlords' last test of the regular season, turned into just another blowout as they rolled over the London Ligers 70-3 today.

Every aspect of the Warlords' game clicked as they rushed for 259 yards, passed for 338.5 and held London to less than 65 total net yards.

Firing on all cylinders just as the playoffs are set to begin, Dresden (13-2) is riding a 10-game winning streak, has their conference's top defense and is tied for first place.

The Warlords' top-ranked defense did nothing to hurt its rankings, becoming the first team to keep London (10-5) out of the endzone an entire game. Dresden sacked London's quarterback 10 times and forced two turnovers and seven punts.

The "Sack Master" bookends are officially a force to be reckoned with every game. Defensive end Stone "Sack Master" Wall racked up a team-record six sacks, a forced fumble, five hurries and a team-high six tackles. On the other side, defensive end Ben "Sack Master" Sanderson recovered that fumble and had a sack of his own along with four hurries and three tackles.

Warlords' Linebacker Jan I'tor made a statement early, sacking London's Chuck it Deep to force a three-and-out on the first series of the game. I'tor had five tackles on the day.

LB Kevin "Hitman" Taylor had his third take-away in as many games, when he recovered a fumbled return on the Warlords only punt of the game.

The Dresden defense allowed just 4 rushing yards and 60 passing yards on 27 throws, an average of just 2.2 yards per attempt.

The Warlords' offense was the most balanced it has been all season, with both the rushing and passing games excelling.

Halfback Eric D Nelson found the endzone eight times, averaging 5.7 yards per carry on 38 rushes for 218 yards. One score went for 46.5 yards and required Nelson to make three defenders fall over themselves.

Backup HB Jia O'Connor added another rushing touchdown and 48 yards on 10 carries.

Dresden's double-headed passing attack continued, as QB Joti Vyin had 11 completions on 17 attempts for 198.5 yards and a 46.5-yard pass to wideout Percival "Perry" Cox for the game-opening score.

Place kicker Chris "CP3" Paul did not attempt a field goal, but he forced a fumble on the opening kickoff and was a perfect 10 for 10 on extra point tries.

Goal Line Blitz's sixth regular season will come a close Friday when Dresden travels to Las Vegas to take on the 1-14 Hold-Em or Fold-Em.

A win for the Warlords would assure them of at least a share of first place, but the Dublin Irishmen hold the head-to-head tiebreaker and will receive the top seed in the playoffs should they win, as well. Dublin plays at the third-place Amsterdam 49ers (11-3) Friday.

If Dresden manages to earn the top seed, they would likely start by hosting the Stockholm Scorpions, who the Warlords crushed 59-10 on Dec. 2.

A second seed would mean likely hosting the Belfast Terror, a team Dresden beat by a slim three-point margin on Nov. 28.

Hmm...I'm predicting a slight shake-up in the lower playoff section of the Alpha Conference after next game. While the 9th place broncos are nearly guaranteed a win, the 7th and 8th place teams, Belfast and Stockholm, respectively, have a chance, not sure how good of a chance, but a chance, of losing. Anxious to see how it goes.

Great write-up once again!
