Good for Samoa.

Not so good for Berquist. That place reeks of decomposing gnome flesh.

The Samoa Gangsters would like to formally welcome the newest addition to the veteran receiving corps of Samoa, led by long time Gangster Patrick McSizzle. We feel Bergquist will be a top notch addition to the Gangsters for years to come.

Oh, and we apologize for the dead gnomes laying around. We can't control what some of our players do when they get bored.

WTF?!?! I thought teams still in the playoff hunt couldn't sign players until they were out.

Thanks Matt. Honestly, I'm sorry we missed out on you, but I'm more bothered that teams can add players this late. Selling your team back to the CPU 14 games into a season shouldn't allow players to quickly sign with playoff contenders.

I don't think signing anyone at anytime is an issue, it is releasing and trading that can't be done. When playoffs start releases can happen.

Well guys, I'll let you all in on a bit of my reason for signing Matt now instead of waiting.

First of all, I did NOT do this to get an edge in this season's playoffs. One of Samoa's WRs (Gun Masterson) is quitting GLB this offseason, and I needed to pull in someone to take his spot over. That is why I pursued Matt as intensely as I did.

If it would make anyone feel better for purposes of competition, I would gladly sit Gun during the playoffs. I'm not out to try to get an unfair advantage over anyone, and was legitimately trying to fill next season's hole as opposed to trying to get a small advantage for the playoffs (considering Samoa is one of the few Zeta teams that does not have 6 WRs at this point, I'd just be getting on par with some of the teams). I'd hope that most of the owners here I have experience with know I am a standup owner and want to do what is right, not something to gain a cheap advantage.

Teams in the playoffs are unable to sign FA's. This is a loophole that needs to be fixed. Otherwise a team on the cusp of the playoffs could lose tomorrow, decide to sell to the CPU, move 20 of their team's best players to another team, and it would be completely legal.

This is NOTHING against Matt or Moose. They're playing within the rules and I wish them both the best, however, this is a loophole that needs to be closed. And while one WR may not push Samoa over the top, I guarantee whoever plays the Naked Mole Rats (G-Town's sister team) is probably pretty pissed off right now because it looks like a lot of their players are signing there. 1-2 guys probably not a big deal, after that it crosses a line.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=1599185 if you want to voice your support. And again, this isn't against Matt and Moose. It's a stupid hole in the rules.

I've suggested many times to Bort that he needs to increase the chemistry penalty as we get closer to the playoffs.

I have no issue with teams adding players up to the playoffs, under the current system. Players need to play to grow with XP, and lowering the number of teams they can sign with is not a good idea.

However, increasing the chemistry hit as you get closer to the playoffs will make a playoff team think long and hard about the cost/benefit of adding someone, or multiple players, before the playoffs.

Up to day 19 - regular chem hits
Day 19-trade deadline (day 25?) - double hits
Day 26-27 - triple hits
Day 28-29 - quadruple hits
Day 30-31-32 - five times the hit
