Projected Standings after Week 15

1. Banzai Pipeline 'Nites, 14-1

2. So Cal BDC, 12-3 (1-0 tiebreaker, 686 points scored)
3. Brisbane Heat, 12-3 (0-1 tiebreaker, 587 points scored)

4. Melbourne Thorny Devils, 11-4 (2-1 tiebreaker, 545 points scored)
5. Samoa Gangsters, 11-4 (1-1 tiebreaker, 762 points scored)
6. Vanuatu Kava Sharks, 11-4 (1-1 tiebreaker, 679 points scored)
7. Cook Island Convicts, 11-4 (1-2 tiebreaker, 567 points scored)

8. Fiji Stingers, 9-6
9. Barossa Grapestompers, 8-7

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Key Week 15 Matchups

1. Brisbane Heat (11-3) vs. Cook Island Convicts (11-3)
--- This match between two tough Zeta teams could set two very different tones leading into the Week 16 games regarding Zeta playoff seeding.

2. Banzai Pipeline 'Nites (13-1) vs. Fiji Stingers (9-5)
--- After an upset win last week against the brilliant AI of SCACE, Fiji is hoping that lukin and his band of merry GM's will giftwrap their way into the playoffs with a win, since Banzai has already secured the #1 seed. A Fiji loss means that the Week 16 game will determine the Stingers fate in the race for a playoff spot.

3. So Cal BDC (11-3) vs. Barossa Grapestompers (8-6)
--- Barossa needs to win at least one of their last two games and get some help from Fiji. The Grapestompers can take a strong step in the right direction this week if they can upset BDC and the Stingers lose to the 'Nites, leaving the teams tied. A Fiji win and Barossa loss and the dream is over. Barossa hopes to either tie up the records (as they hold the tiebreaker) or at least keep pace.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Key Week 16 Matchups

1. Brisbane Gods (6-8) vs. Barossa Grapestompers (8-6)
--- At the start of the season, this looked like a horrible 1-2 punch for the Grapestompers to end the season. However, this season hasn't been what the Gods had hoped for and they will miss the playoffs for the first time in their history (I think). However, they can still affect who makes the playoffs with this match -- if Barossa wins, barring any upsets, they're in the playoffs. If they lose, barring an upset in Week 15, they're on the outside looking in. SCACE is at home under lock, key, moat to keep the black knight away, and futuristic shielding to keep the pots and pans robot out after numerous death threats from Barossa fans, players...even the owner.

2. Cook Island Convicts (11-3) vs. Fiji Stingers (9-5)
--- The schedule gods left Fiji with two brutal matches to end the season and has them wishing they had beaten Barossa a couple weeks back. Assuming no upsets from Fiji or Barossa in Week 15, a Fiji win this week secures them the final playoff spot and a second date with the Nites in Round 1. But neither of Fiji's last two games are easy, and based on this season's results, Barossa has the easier schedule to finish off the season...stay tuned.

3. So Cal BDC (11-3) vs. Melbourne Thorny Devils (10-4)
--- This game will have serious playoff seeding implications unless MTD continues its fall from grace and loses to TCA in Week 15.

4. Vanuatu Kava Sharks (10-4) vs. Samoa Gangsters (10-4)
--- This game will also have serious playoff seeding implications.

Wishful thinking there Scace. I know you're a Heat slappy and it serves you better if Cook Island loses tomorrow, but don't count us out yet.

haha - I'm not counting you out at all, and neither are the Heat. They want to keep the dream for 2nd place alive

--- Heat take this one down, assure themselves a 2nd or 3rd place finish in the regular season.

2. Banzai Pipeline 'Nites (13-1) vs. Fiji Stingers (9-5)
--- Nites take this one, meaning the final playoff spot will come down to the final week.

3. So Cal BDC (11-3) vs. Barossa Grapestompers (8-6)
--- Barossa couldn't pull off the upset, but still have a chance to sneak in with a win in week 16.

Suprise of the week

Samoa drops to 10-5, upset by those pesky Incinerators, nothing to play for but the spoils! The tiebreakers have all gone to hell now!

--- Barossa needs to win and needs help from Cook Island to sneak into the 8th seed.

--- Fiji win, they're in. Fiji loss + Barossa loss, they're in. Fiji loss + Barossa win...get out the dotgolf clubs.

--- This game will have serious home game + matchup seeding implications. Possibilities to follow.

For anyone who cares, Zeta really was a meat grinder this year. MTD can finish anywhere from 3rd to 7th after Week 16 games, as an example. Assuming no major upsets, and using two key matchups between playoff-bound teams, here is how the top 7 could shake out:

A

MTD over BDC
Samoa over VKS

1. Nites (15-1)
2. Heat (13-3)

3. MTD (12-4) 2-0 in tiebreaker
4. BDC (12-4) 1-1 in tiebreaker
5. Convicts (12-4) 0-2 in tiebreaker

6. Samoa (11-5) 1-0 in tiebreaker
7. VKS (11-5) 0-1 in tiebreaker

B

MTD over BDC
VKS over Samoa

1. Nites (15-1)
2. Heat (13-3)

3. BDC (12-4) 2-1 in tiebreaker, 700+ points
4. MTD (12-4) 2-1 in tiebreaker, 600+ points
5. VKS (12-4) 1-2 in tiebreaker, 800+ points
6. Convicts (12-4) 1-2 in tiebreaker, 600+ points

7. Samoa (10-6)

C

BDC over MTD
Samoa over VKS

1. Nites (15-1)

2. BDC (13-3) 1-0 in tiebreaker
3. Heat (13-3) 0-1 in tiebreaker

4. Convicts (12-4) 0-1 in tiebreaker

5. Samoa (11-5) 1-1 in tiebreaker, 800+ points
6. VKS (11-5) 1-1 in tiebreaker, 800+ points
7. MTD (11-5) 1-1 in tiebreaker, 600+ points

D

BDC over MTD
VKS over Samoa

1. Nites (15-1)

2. BDC (13-3) 1-0 in tiebreaker
3. Heat (13-3) 0-1 in tiebreaker

4. Convicts (12-4) 1-0 in tiebreaker
5. VKS (12-4) 0-1 in tiebreaker

6. MTD (11-5)

7. Samoa (10-6)

----

Obviously, 8th place comes down to:

Grapestompers vs. Gods: Barossa must win to stay alive, and then need a Fiji loss as well.

and

Stingers vs. Convicts: Fiji gets in by win or tie, and they can lose along with a Barossa loss. A loss + Barossa win is their ticket out, and they don't want to punch it.

-----

For the record, I think Barossa sneaks in the playoffs on the tiebreaker over Fiji as the Stingers drop their last game vs. the Convicts and the Grapestompers take out the Gods in Week 16. In fact, here is how I see things shaking out (yes, when it comes to my team, I'm an optimist and I know the BDC boys (and girl) will disagree with me!

1. Nites (15-1)
2. Heat (13-3)
3. MTD (12-4) 2-0 in tiebreaker
4. BDC (12-4) 1-1 in tiebreaker
5. Convicts (12-4) 0-2 in tiebreaker
6. Samoa (11-5) 1-0 in tiebreaker
7. VKS (11-5) 0-1 in tiebreaker
8. Barossa (9-7) 1-0 in tiebreaker
-----
9. Fiji (9-7) 0-1 in tiebreaker
