I would still like to know how much I should train it by the time I'll play...
Let's assume my players hardly ever, if ever get beat. Would confidence be necessary then or no?

confidence can also help end of game morale which carries over.. so if your team loses a lot...

some people feel that confidence also helps the line gen SA.

and by the time you'll play.. at level 13? Well if you're on an expansion team looking to win, I guess I'd try to get stamina to 25 and confidence to 20 by the time you start. Personally I think that's a huge waste of potential though, to try to perform in your first season on day 1.

A lot of teams go that route, win a championship, and fade out though.. personally, I like the long-term team route

So basically, enough to bounce back after a bad block/play would be 20 con?

20 right now should be fine. I'd plan on training it all the way to 30 over the next few seasons.

My C's are just now getting around to training confidence and vision. At the end of the day, you have to be able to not get beat like a drum before you worry about confidence.

What difference does it make if your morale doesn't crater because you are getting beat on every other play! Congrats for remaining happy and upbeat that your play sucks! Much more important to focus on not getting beat and once you've got that down, work on confidence on the rare occasion you play against a guy studlier than you!

Well, I just want to know if anyone has speculated confidence to actually help in the play rather than the recovery?

I mean, logic tells me that a more confident person utilizing strength heavily will push harder because he knows and is happy with his abilities. Of course that's logic, not code.. so that's why I'm asking.

well, if you look at the absorb pain description, it mentions that it helps prevent the loss of morale when facing bigger stronger guys. it's been widely discussed that players' performance will go down as morale goes down. confidence helps maintain morale. therefore, I consider confidence on the oline to be very similar to stamina. I do believe it helps even without you getting beat, but I also think there is an upper limit to its value.

That's the thing. I don't intend to often get beat, and I know that it sounds arrogant but my players are juggernauts for that exact purpose.

I appreciate all the posts so far, I'd like to get to the bottom of this.
If there are any other opinions on the effect of confidence, let's say for the sake of argument that I'm talking about the effect of confidence on the first through fifth plays, I'd like to hear them.

How valuable is confidence without considering the effect it has on retaining morale?
None? Slight value? Great value?

my post was not referring to losing morale due to getting beat. my post was pointing out that absorb pain claims that morale is lost purely by fighting on the line. re: every play regardless of getting beat or not. hence my comparison to stamina.

Would you suggest an even level of stamina and confidence?

I'm not positive, but yes, I more or less believe that conf/stamina should be relatively close for oline.
