Here we are with 2 weeks worth of developments to catch up on. There are some good games this week! Some teams have dropped by the wayside, but the battle to reach the playoffs is still going strong.

Game of the Week #1.....Stand up and be counted!
Chillicothe vs. Wake Island
The Destroyers won a close game against a good USGD team last week, but it doesn't get any easier. This week they must prove themselves up to the task playing a very good Convict team that would love to better their playoff position and put the Destroyers on a sandy bottom. The Convicts will bring a top notch offense to test the Destroyer defense all game long. The Destroyers had trouble putting points up against USGD last week, and I think Chillicothe has at least as good a defense....and truthfully....better. This is a game where Wake better have a dynamite game plan to slow the Convicts down if they want a chance to win. Well.....wish in one hand and.....you know the rest. The Convicts offense will overpower the Destroyer defense and put up enough points to overcome any offensive depth charges dropped by the Destroyers. The Convicts take this game in the second half and walk away with a 3 TD win over a good Wake Island battle group.

Game of the Week #2.....Holding on by the fingernails..
Vanuatu vs Tuvalu
The Matadors are in the middle of a 4 way race for the 7th and 8th spot in the conference. Every game is a big game for all 4 of those teams. This week though, Tuvalu draws the toughest assignment. Tuvalu has the horses to pull off an upset here, but they have to have the game plan set up just right. Vanuatu is looking like the Volcano's of old the past few weeks and will not be giving the Matadors anything. Tuvalu has got to break on top to have a chance here. If they get into a game of catch up against the Volcano, I can see this game getting away fast....it might anyway. Tuvalu is still a hard read to me. I don't think it will be that hard a read for the Volcano though. Tuvalu puts up a game effort but in the end, Vanuatu has just a bit too much talent and balance for the Matadors. Vanuatu by 3 TD's pulling away in the 3rd quarter.

Game of the Week #3.....You just keep me hanging on...
USGD vs. Antarctica
The Dynasty are coming off a tough loss to a good Wake Island team, but they dont' get much time to recover. They face another tough matchup against a Seal squad desparate to host a playoff game and they won't be in any mood for playing nice. USGD has a solid team that has positioned themselves in the middle of the playoff push. A win over Antarctica would go a long way to punching their playoff ticket. The good news is they Dynasty will have a good shot at the playoffs after this game....the bad new is it is the Seals that will be doing the punching. The Dynasty impressed the Seals team with a tough performance against Wake Island....impressed them enough to ensure the Seals aren't taking the Dynasty lightly at all. This is a game where the Dynsasty defense will have to dominate for USGD to win. The Seals defense will give yards up grudgingly and a USGD win will require timely turnovers. The Seals have been pretty selfish there this season and I expect that to continue. Seals win by 3 TD's.

Game of the Week #4.....Do you believe in magic?
Osaka vs. SAFS
The Buckeyes are the prohibitive favorite here.....except to those of us who have had to deal with the SAFS the past few seasons. The SAFS will give Osaka more than they bargained for in this matchup....but it won't be enough to pull off the upset. This game might be far closer than anybody thinks...including me....for a while. The Buckeyes will pull away though and win this game by 4 TD's against a SAFS team that will not be looking for any morale victories.

Minimum write up games:

Newcastle vs. Cairns
The fire deserve credit for hanging in there this season, but that better be enough for this week. Mino's by lots.

Gold Coast vs. Drunk Fu
Non-game of the week. Gold Coast by lots.

Tonga vs Penrith
The Terror get a break this week and watch the SAFS and watch their playoff position competitors all take on tough opponents. They are a game back of them all. After this week, we might be looking at a 4 way tie. Tonga by lots.

Hattrick vs. Sydney
This might be an entertaining game. The Hammerheads can put points up but can't stop anybody. Hattrick is just better on both sides of the ball and will come out with an high scoring win. Hattrick by lots.

Conference Leader:
Osaka

Conference Contenders:
Newcastle
Vanuatu
Wake Island
Antarctica
Chillicothe

Playoff Contenders:
Tuvalu
SAFS
USGD
Tonga

Looking to season 7:
Gold Coast
Penrith
Hattrick
Cairns
Sydney
Drunk Fu

Going to be a great finish!

I have Wake Island beating Chillicothe and think the Buckeyes will blow SAFS out of the water early. Just the feeling I get after scouting each team.

By the way awesome write up I like reading things like this makes the league feel so much move competitive.

Im sure it will be a good game I just think convicts are not a second half team. look at their tough games they really don't have a lot of players and if they don't get tired on the second half they prolly gonna get the win but if they do well see what happen.

any way we want this game bad so good luck convicts and as always good write up.

Great job as always, Maldinor. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into writing these things (even though you hate us..hahaha). Always looking forward to the next installment. Thanks.

The Wake/Chillicothe game was a good one. Tough break on the fumble, but it happens.

Now the Seals get to see the Destroyers up close and personnel with a probably playoff host game on the line. Ought to be fun!

Even if Wake losses they will be the #3 seed and the Seals may be stuck in the #5 seed even if they win.

If the Seals win there will be a 3 way tie for third. Wake will win #3 because of points scored and Vanuatu getting #4 for the same reason.

You guys better start trying to run it up. That tie breaker is gonna decide who gets home games and who gets to play Osaka in the 2nd round

I guess Vanuatu has no chance against Newcastle.

I show points - Vanuatu 911, Antarctica 799, and Wake 721. Looks pretty close to me

The points show so far by bob are exactly correct.

Both Antarctica and Wake have the Drunk Fu left on the schedule. Points there are a wash.

But....I think we are all getting a little ahead of ourselves. The Seals have to beat the Destroyers first....that won't be easy and may not happen. If the Seals do win, they still finish with a Matador team that may have to win to make the playoffs. No guarantees there either.

Vanuatu has a good shot of beating Newcastle. It will be a real good game.
