O-line needs AGI of at least 60 in order to keep D-Line in check.

Average DE has between 50 and 60 str. So you don't need 70 + str on your OT.
Ideal OT in my opinion would have 60 str 70 block 50 Speed and 60+ AGI.

This would allow him to get into position in order to engage the block. Enough strength to hold his block in the run. And enough blocking to hold his block for few ticks vs good shed block ends.

All you need to look at is the player your against. Check the performing DE on your team. Have you seen any 90 plus str DE getting 50 sacks a season. High AGI & Speed guys are your problem. To counter that you need enough speed to beat them to the corner. Enough AGI so they cannot bump off and around you.

And enough blocking to hold a block once you have engaged them.

In run game you only need enough strength to hold your block. The guards will open the hole for you. And fact is OT job is to hold up the DE not pancake him and then rape the LB SS. Cause even if your 80+ str guy can pancake the DE. Then speed will be a problem with him getting to the 2nd level.

Anyway that is my opinion. Other factor is have huge rotation of players and appears to be large drop in performance from 99 % fatigue to 85%.Cause that is making the next step up into elite team.

Your current focus is to sign 2 OT or better get your current guys to reposition equipment. As fixing your own guys will result in them staying loyal.

While merc you bring in might leave soon as they arrive

Samoa is at 32 sacks but would probably be closer to 22 if I hadn't tried to do some crazy shit against So Cal that let Denver pretty much set up shop in our backfield

I feel a little better with my ex starter QB only being sacked 49 times newbie being sacked 8 times and punter being sacked once.

AND WE HAVE NOT EVEN WON A FREAKIN GAME - BUT DO I COMPLAIN? IT IS PART OF THE GAME, WE ALL SHOULD BE USED TO IT BY NOW.

Make adjustments, it has helped us until that sneaky CB got us last game for 4 sacks.
Our QBs just don't like to throw the ball for some reason.

On the other hand my defense only has 10 sacks for the season. It has to be a build thing.

If ya don't like it get out, complaining ain't going to fix the problem. I have been losing since season 2 and I think I like the tormoil of having to struggle to convince guys to have fun losing and to continue to do so every season.

Not being vocal = nothing is going to change. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

And saying, "if you don't like it, get out" only leads to more gutted teams. That's not a good thing or a viable solution.

I also posted my concerns about pass rush in the bugs forum, though it's probably already buried back to page 3 or 4. Not sure what the solution is, though making speed and agility a function of player size/weight would be a good start. A 6'6 300 pound DE should RARELY be able to chase down a speed back from behind. Julius Peppers is considered an athletic freak, but he only posted a 4.6 40. Most 200 pound speed backs run the 40 a little bit faster than that.

IMO, a 70 speed/70 agility HB that weighs 200 pounds should be faster than a 70 speed/70 agility DE that weighs 300 pounds.

I think the first time you watch a play and realize it's dots playing football, any desire for realism should be forgotten.

This isn't the NFL, and it shouldn't try to be. Part of the charm of computer games is you get to experience a completely foreign environment and adapt to it, which gives you a creative thinking exercise.

In this reality, DEs can get 80 sacks in a season. How you adapt to that reality determines how your team performs.

For example, cober said most DEs have 50-60 STR. So if an OT puts on 80+ STR, he has an advantage there. Are people still wondering, then, why rushing yardage is so high? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

The NFL is what it is because the genetic pool only has so many variations, and because teams are pretty much looking for the same kinds of "builds" for the same positions. You can't have a 300-lb DE who runs a 4.2 40 and can't lift a sack of dogfood in the NFL... but you can here. If this game is unrealistic, it's because it gives us too many options for building players, and people have taken advantage of that.

Anyone want to just go to cookie-cutter players instead? Does that sound fun?

Markm, at first I was getting a little pissed at this topic when it was in the postgame handshakes thread. I am not now and I understand your point and your frustration. There is another side to this though.

The Heat have always had a great D-line and have spent a lot of time and effort bulding it, much like Mean Machine has always been able to pass on everyone, TiTs is the team that intercepts everything, VKS is the team that hits 70+ yard FGs and their TE is always open, Banzai Has the Dungeon master and is always good at everything, etc.

I don't think any of these teams would like it if someone said their success was just the product of abusing a glitch. Particularly this season when we have been frustrated and complaining that WE were nerfed. Last season we led the league in sacks and hurries by a wide margin and have pretty much done that since season 2. This season we are a middle of the road team in that regard and I have been frustrated with it on our end.

In order to get pressure now against better teams I have had to resort to some fairly bizzare blitzes and schemes in order to compensate. If you look at our game more closely, 3 of those sacks came directly from our SS's and many were caused by the OT trying to pick up other defenders then the DE on specific plays out of specific formations.

It is not realistic I agree, but as a defense if we do not get a sack it is pretty much a completion, triple coverage or no triple coverage. Offenses have more tools then ever to combat the defense and if anything I think the season 6 version of the game is clearly weighted in the offenses favor.

Another aspect of it is that you moved up into a league where EVERY team is on the ball, you probably would have dominated AAA again were you guys down there and not had anything to complain about. Personally I prefer being in this league, even though we have not won a single trophy since we moved up, I still think the last couple of seasons were a lot more fun then when we won AAA 2.

So imo there are basically two issues here, the game does not accuratley simulate real football and you should complain in the bugs forum and point out issues like this so that the game can be improved for everyone.

On the other hand, the sim is the same for everyone and from a competitive standpoint, realize that other people are putting time and effort into this as well and their success or lack thereof has to do with their ability to play this game as well and at the end of the day it IS an even playing field.

Overall, I think this game is awesome and has improved every season, I have plenty of frustrations and have gone off about a variety of issues myself, but I have confined it entirely to the bugs and suggestions forum.

At a certain point you just have to decide if you are going to play the game, knowing full well that there are flaws that you will have to adapt to, or if you are just going to hang it up.
