We've faced two teams so far this year with hyper agile DT's. Currently I cannot think of a single thing that can be done to battle these cats. We can possible begin making guards that are as agile as cornerbacks, but aside from that the playbook and the AI give us little to no ability to game plan to stop these guys:

This is a well built level 39 guard on a level 39 DT:

Different game, same type of player:

These kind of plays were unheard of in previous seasons, but are becoming more common now. Is there anything that can be done to stop this? Any AI tactics?

Incidentally, in the first set of examples, we held in our FB, HB, and/or TE on almost every play to off set this, and he still had 19 hurries.

I'd really like to see that G build. This agility DT thing has been known, but I've never seen such demolition. The G has to be missing something key.

This is why my G plans to take agi to 60, though.

Maybe if we ask him nicely enough he will post it in here for a bit!

Based on this, I am taking Blk to 85 (with eq - sorry, didn't slowbuild) and Agi to 60.

that level 39 G has a pretty crappy scouting bar, it's pretty easy to get a 50/51overall - 57block scouting bar by as low as 32.

Yeah I have to agree it is a bit low. I have a lvl 39 with a 63 block scouting bar, despite 'wasting' over 50 SP in SAs.

I don't know what his build is, but relatively low Str/Blk for his level, low Conf, and possibly a stack of SAs in run block and no SAs in pass block could produce problems like this when pass blocking.

Also if his focus is set to run block he will lose out more.

It is still worth noting though - the DT thinks he has something good going, I imagine this is 95+ agi with a load of shed block, and others will start copying him. I'm taking up Blk/Agi and Pass Block SA to counter the future changes DTs will make, and am thinking about Shock Block SA also.

That was my first idea too, but then the second set of replays:

One can easily get a 63 bar with a ton of STR/BLK and not much of anything else.

I'm beginning to think these super high agility DT's are putting a "fake" on the G at the start of the play and not making a special move at all...A g with a fairly low agility and low vision (and possibly low confidence) would be getting faked regularly by a guy with 90+ agility.

The plays in which the HB is able to chip away at the DT is likely due to the HB himself having a very high agility and decent vision/confidence and not falling for the fake.

Here is one of the celebrated DTs talking about his build little by little in another thread

http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=1557837&page=1

It isn't all given away, but I'd say based on what he says he has over 100 agility, low 70s strength, speed in the mid 50s and shed block around 7.

People with Gs need to be aware of what many DTs will start to do with their builds. We need to take action now before we are overrun!

I'd try high blocking (90+), decent agility (60) and vision (50) first.

My LGs already have 60+ agility. I'm working them to 68.
