Steven Alexander was released from his contract early Monday morning.
Dune Hoppers Owner Turnerhero was quoted, saying: "We respect and admire Steve's performance and professionalism while he's been a part of our franchise, but as things do have a tendency to happen, we were overcrowded at his position. I am good friends with his Agent, Clarkdaddy, and during golf yesterday, we spoke about the situation. I agreed to release Steve out of respect for him, and his agent, instead of going the route of trading him away for cash. I gave him the options; stay on the team and we'll try to work out the playing time issues, find a team he'd like to be traded to and let me set it up, or simply be released from his contract.
Clark and Steve both thanked me for being up front about needing to cut back, and that he was chosen as the one to be cut. They talked, and opted for a release, and I granted their request without question, or hesitation. We wish him the best of luck in his continued, and surely illustrious career."
