If I use my center as a starting ot is there any penalty? How much of a penalty is there? My centers abilities are clearly better but if playing out of position generates a large penalty I wouldn't want to do it.

there is a penalty but i dont know how severe it is

I heard that there is a penalty for playing out of position, but it isn't very severe for O-lineman playing other spots on the O-line. Not exactly sure how true that is, but it is what I recall.
