You don't need a degree to get a good job, but right now, there are a lot of companies laying off, and at least in my industry, it is very hard to stick without a degree. My son still hasn't finished college, and his boss has explained that when the next round of layoffs hit, they will keep the degreed employees before the non degreed in his position.
