Saw and Saw II. Got progressively weaker after the first two, but loved those 2 movies.

Also Platoon was a kick ass war movie. Right up there with Apocalypse now imo

Eh, I think Saw IV was probably the second best in that installment (haven't seen 5, dunno if I will). 3 was clearly the worst and I think 1 was the best. 4 was philosophical, like the first, and wasn't just new traps necessarily. 3 was terrible.

I agree with Platoon. Probably the best pure-Vietnam movie (Apoc Now, FMJ, and Deer Hunter weren't really about Vietnam as much) there is. Plus, I like the father-son thing you got in that movie comparison there

I personally don't think it reaches the heights of Apocalypse Now on deeper levels (Marlon Brando's ramblings actually made me quiver ["have you ever considered any real freedoms.."]), but it's a damn good movie and you can't go wrong mentioning it

The name is totally misleading...its funny as hell. It's one big drug induced trip through time and space, but you dont get the full depth of the movie unless you are in some way non-sober so that you can relate to it lol. It just wasnt the same watching it sober.

If you havent seen it, i would highly recommend it, as im sure many others would too.

Mad Max (I liked beyond the thunder dome, the first one, I've never seen all the way though)

Beyond the Thunder Dome is #3. Road Warrior is #2.

The I haven't even heard of the first one then

The first one is an Australian film and is set before the big war. It is just titled Mad Max. Sweet movie, but for some reason the audio is a little off from the video. It kind of looks like it is dubbed even though it isn't.

Being made in Australia, the audio looping runs counter-clockwise which throws it slightly out of sync with the video track when digitized back in Hollywood.

OK. That was a load.

I didn't like Apocalypse Now, but I didn't like Heart of Darkness either. And the idea of adapting Heart of Darkness to the Vietnam War is just kinda cheesy to me.

Definitely agree with Goodfellas, AHX, The Departed (Scorsese is one of my 4 favorite directors), and FMJ definitely.
