The GLB Wiki shows the complex series of tiebreakers, but realistically I think points differential is the only one that will end up coming into play. Looking at the playoff results from a7 and a8, I've reached the following educated guesses:

First of all, obviously Spicewood and Alpine will advance to AA4 automatically for winning their conferences.

Silverymoon and NMR, as conference title participants, will also likely advance to AA4, given the large preponderance of gutted and cpu teams ahead of us. I also expect the A8 conference finalists to advance, so that gives us 8 teams total so far moving to the AA leagues to replace gutted teams.

Oakland and Albuquerque have the best shot to advance next, based on the points differential tiebreaker. Oakland won it's first playoff game by 33 and lost the second one by 7, ending up with an average points differential of +13. Albuquerque won it's first playoff game by 14 and lost the second by 5, for an average points differential of +4.5. The A8 divisional runners up - Las Vegas Criminal Element and Death Valley Kigs, each lost their second game by more than they won their first, giving them negative points differentials, so the A7W candidates have an edge there.

A7 East's divisional runners up have it tougher. RU and New Orleans both have decidedly negative points differentials because of their blowout losses in the second round, as compared to their A8 counterpoints, one of whom has a positive points differential from blowing out round 1 and winning round 2, and the other of whom has only a slightly negative one from playing two close games.

Now, a large part of this calculation depends on how many of the teams ahead of A7 will be 'flagged' in the reorganization. It also depends on if the integrity of the conferences is maintained, or if he determines moveups with all the teams in a big pool and there is a chance that teams from the east side of a league can move to the west of the next.

If he takes all the teams as a whole, I think Oakland and Albuquerque have an excellent chance to advance. Not so much to RU and New Orleans because of the unfortunate points differentials. If he does it by conference, I think you'll see 3 teams from each conference, which would take Oakland and New Orleans to the next level.

The only "actual" way to do an accurate calculation would be to start the top and fill in that way down to A7 and A8. The assumption that he will only move teams upward promotion style while sticking to the tree system already in place might be a bit flawed.

There have been indications (from his announcement and posts) that it will be a game-wide reorganization. If we assume he'll keep the countries together, a fair assumption, I don't see why a total realignment of the four levels of inital, "land grab" leagues in USA, followed by a promotion style move up of the capped leagues and other countries, is out of the question.

There are A teams that would be competitive with mid-range AAA and Pro teams and the reorganization needs to reflect that fact. While every conference needs a Detriot Lions, it would be pretty logical (and healthy for the game) if the leagues were reordered so that all 16 teams were of comparable (or as comparable as possible) levels/record from Pro down to BBB.

That's all a good point, but the latest information I've seen indicates that the regions will not be moved around (and thank the dear sweet fucking lord, too) so it will only be done within the pyramids of the individual regions. Also it depends largely on how many teams get flagged. I think we have several teams that could compete with or beat a few of the teams in USA Pro, but I doubt if we'll get promoted past AA level.

I'm not sure if the whole "Eastern vs. Western" will stay in tact, but this is how the tiebreakers for the promotion will work between A#7 and A#8. Here is the order.

2) Spicewood Longhorns (W7)
3) Waller Knights (W8)
4) Alpine Golfers (E7)
5) Naked Mole-Rats (E7)
6) Austin Outlaws (W8)
7) Silverymoon Elves (W7)
8) Nashville Psychotic Smilies (E8)
9) Oakland Wizards (W7)
10) Vermont Ice Storm (E8)
11) Albuquerque Mustangs (W7)
12) Crimson Marauders (E8)
13) Las Vegas Criminal Element (W8)
14) Death Valley Vikings (W8)
15) New Orleans Golden Kangaroos (E7)
16) RU Scarlet Knights (E7)

You reversed the conferences for spicewood and Alpine, but that is essentially correct. The only inaccuracy is that Waller would be number 2 under Western Conference, with Alpine number 2 under East and Spicewood number 1 under West

Should be fixed now. I should also mention Death Valley is CPU now, so they will get dropped down.
