I saw the Bama/UGA game, the UGA/LSU game, the Fla/Ole Miss games.......not overly impressed with the D I saw.

There isn't a team in the SEC that would finish better than 3rd in the Big 12 South.

You win "most stupid post of the year." Everyone in America knows that the SEC is the strongest football conference in America- year in and out. We have had the most national champions in the past 10 years and...really, do I have to explain?

Most people would usually give this order of best conferences:

SEC
Big 10
Big 12
Pac-10
Big East
ACC

Big 12 may be having a good year right now in conference because of their flashy quarterbacks, but they just can't compare with the SEC. Let's just hope you don't run into an SEC team in the near future.

And don't compare defenses...your best teams give up around 24-28 points a game in conference.

I really think the Big 12 top teams would score 24+ on any SEC team. Texas, Oklahoma, TT, Okie State. When LSU gives up 50+ then you know the D's aren't as good as they have been in the past.

I think most people knew the last couple of year what would happen to Ohio State in the title game before it ever happened. However, the Big 12 can go athlete for athlete with the SEC - no sane college football fan disputes this.

Last year, yes. Two years ago? Not so much. Ohio State was a huge favorite to beat Florida. Not only did a majority of people think Ohio State would win easily, but they didn't even think Florida deserved to be in the game. The consensus was that the title game should have been a Michigan/Ohio State rematch.

Of course Florida did what they did to Ohio State, and Michigan got thumped by USC in the Rose Bowl, and the "rematch" argument became the biggest afterthought in college football history.

I find some of these insane byases amusing. The last few years, the SEC has been ONE of the better conferences. Some of those years they have had teams actually win the BCS Championship. Best conference, I don't think so. That is an argument that can't be proven realistically under the current system. The closest thing you have to compare is the out of conference match ups and the bowl games. The SEC rarely has any of their middle to lower tier teams play any BCS teams out of conference so a realistic comparison can't be made to some of the other conferences that do play a decent amount of out of conference games. Bowls the SEC has done alright some years (often against inferior competition just because of the way the bowl matchups are set). Its just a really silly argument.

Now I will say that you can say that Florida, LSU, USC and Texas have been the elite teams over the last 5-10 years. They have won big games consistently both in conference games and out of conference or in bowl games. After those four, their is generally a drop in year in year out consistent performances.

^^^

you are beating around the bush. On ESPN, sports talk radio, famous sports writers...what conference seems to be the general consensus when talking about the best? just google it man. of course there is no guaranteed way by using statistics and facts...it is just something you know.

THe best conferences have a tendency to change every year. This year it's Big 12, SEC, Big 10, Pac 10 and the rest.

I'd like to say the Big 10 has been most consistent...

Michigan being most winning team
Ohio being Ohio
Some good years for Wisconsin and Michigan state
And then some OK teams like Purdue, Northwestern, and Iowa

and if Penn state was in the big 10 twenty years before they were let in...it would have been the greatest...

But only recently has Penn state been doing things "the Penn State way" in the big 10
2005 and 2008 was and is being owned by Penn State

The Big 10 and SEC have the greatest teams...

Pac 10 only has USC...and they have nobody else as good as them in their confrence

The Gators have been a completely different team since that Ole Miss game. I wasn't impressed with them either but if you look at how they have been playing lately it's impossible to not be impressed. Being slightly biased obviously since I am an almuni of the school but I think that right now UF and USC are the best two teams. The Big 12 has suddenly forgotten how to play any type of D whatsoever. And I guarantee that the Gators would finish second at the worst in the Big 12 South. Only team I would be worried about playing would be Texas.

I'm a Longhorn alum but I think Oklahoma State might be the best team in the Big 12 South this year. I think they beat Texas Tech this weekend.

I sure hope they do. I'm cheering against everyone in front of the Gators right now. Would be a lot better if they would kick the BCS out and let a real playoff take place.
