#1 Ogopogo Lake Monsters 12-1 vs #6 Québec City Dirtbags 9-4
This game appears to be another easy win for the Lake Monsters. Their passing game has been unstoppable and will once again guide them through what some might consider a tough opponent.
Ogopogo will unleash Primetime Speedster and attempt to hit him deep. He is one of the best play makers in the league. Brian 'I'm Deaf' Murphy continues to be hard to cover and will be another key asset to the Monsters Offense. On the defensive side of the ball the Monsters still look extremely strong. They have given up only 6 passing touchdowns all season! If you think their rushing defense is light, think again. The have shut down the best rushing offenses this league has to offer.
Québec will obviously have their hands full. Their team is in the middle when you consider their strengths and weaknesses. Last week they got lucky against the Huskies. They have struggled all season to exploit their strengths. It appears too little too late against the Monsters. Look for the Dirtbags to try to contain the Monsters passing game. Their secondaries need to be alert at all times. This game will need to be played with precision in order for them to win. One false move will easily spell disaster for Québec and knock them out of the play off hunt.
The Monsters have home field advantage, an 8 game winning streak, and the talent to steamroll anyone who attempts to get in the way. It will take a miracle for Québec to pull the upset. Lake Monsters drown the Dirtbags 20-10.
#2 Saskatchewan Wolf Pack 12-1 vs #5 Tradewest Battletoads 9-4
Another 9-4 team battling for a secured play off spot. The Battletoads know the importance of this game and will not disappoint the Wolf Pack with their cunning game plan. Tradewest's offensive coordinator has been seen leaving late each night after his long sessions of studying Saskatchewan game footage. The Wolf Pack have been uncontested all season long. Their single loss was considered an illegal "points shaving' that was ruled inconclusive in their district court. However there have been many reports of high dollar purchases coming out of the Saskatchewan camp. Numerous "call girls", microbrewery parties, and late night all exclusive VIP passes to the The Slaughterhouse. Everyone is tight lipped with a smile from ear to ear ...
The Wolf Pack will do what they do best...win. They have the best well rounded team that this league has seen since it's creation. Deadeye McCannon and Antenna Ball will have fun with the Battletoads' defense. The player to watch this game will be Manabu Yukimitsu. He can single handily shut down an entire offense with his skills.
The Toadies need to play the defensive game of their career. They will need to keep Saskatchewan under 30 points in hopes that their offense can muster up enough to pull the upset. Brett Gunslinger and Jimmy Harbaugh cannot let their completion rate drop below 70 percent. They both will need to step up to the challenge and perform to the best of their abilities or else it's lights out.
The Battletoads have home field advantage and a nice 4 game winning streak. Tradewest has a few surprises they intend to try against the Wolf Pack. If they are successful they will indeed not only surprise them, but the entire league as well. Saskatchewan has an amazing team this season. They will be selling BBQ Frog Legs after the game... Tradewest gets ripped to shreds by the Wolf Pack 49 - 24.
#7 Laval Lumberjacks 9-4 vs #9 Gaffney Indians 7-6
Laval is taking this game serious. The Lumberjacks are 9-4 and know that the Indians are prepared to take their play off spot away from them. Gaffney has been hit and miss all season and have loss some close games. The Lumberjacks do not intend to let this one get close. As the Indians don their warpaint, and the Lumberjacks sharpen their axes, look for this one to be too close for comfort.
Laval needs this win. Mister Mann has been resting his arm in preparation to this game. Burnin Squirman has been spotted shopping online for some new gloves in hopes to remedy his tendency to drop the ball. Christopher Pickens has shed a few pounds during this weeks practice in hopes he can squeeze through the holes better. When questioned about his new found motivation, he was rumored to mumble something about 3 touchdowns behind his long time friend AD Peterson. Coach Dawg as always has pushed his team to the edge. He even has offered a bonus for the most sacks committed this game. Once the challenge was posted, his wife smiled and looked at him, then without hesitation told him to pay in advance because Serph N'Terph was easily going to show Darktavian Rage how it's done!
Gaffney knows not to underestimate Laval. They have been game planning this for two weeks now. They believe they have their offense in order and tried out their new and improved offensive strategy against Thunder Bay. They looked strong on both sides of the ball and held the Sabertooths to 10. They will need to keep this game close and with it in the 4th. If they give up the early lead to Laval, they need to keep their moral high. This is no easy task in Timber Stadium. Laval's fan base is one of the strongest in the league. The deafening rumble on third down registers on the Richter scale and can easily create mass confusion for the Indian's offense. They will need to keep calm and wait for the right time to attack. The Indians should concentrate on getting Catching Phantom and Jon Dunn the ball. The dump pass is nice, but against Lava's defense, it's just suicide!
After the smoke clears and the fans quiet down to see the results...the Indians after a ferocious drive in the 4th quarter come up short. Laval moves ahead with another victory. This hard fought battle goes well into the 4th quarter with Laval coming out on top 21-17.
