I think that there should be some perks to being promoted, such as the following:

If your team gets promoted to the next level - you can opt to build a larger stadium from the ground up or be able to build even more seating sections into your stadium.

If your team gets promoted to the next level - you have access to additional revenue streams such as stadium naming rights, TV contracts, advertising contracts, parking fees, etc.

If you get demoted, you are subject to only being able to build level 1 of the stadium until you get promoted. This way there is an incentive to win.
