#2 Ogopogo Lake Monsters 9-1 vs #4 Memphis Maulers 7-3
The heavily favored Ogopogo travel to Maulers Stadium where Memphis will host this throw down. Don't expect this to be a mediocre Bobby Flay challenge...this is the real deal. The underdogs here will need to pull out all the stops, for as the Monsters are thirsty for another solid win.
On paper it looks like Ogopogo will win by a landslide. Their team pulled out an amazing come back in the 4th quarter that even Brett Farve himself would have been proud of. If Memphis watches the game tape, perhaps they might be able to pull the upset and send the Monsters back to the depths where they belong.
It's no secret that Memphis has one of the most feared rushing attacks in this league. They have easily outscored every single team in the western division with the run. They have scored 85 touchdowns this season on the ground, and don't look for them to let up any time soon. If it's not broke, don't fix it. Memphis has only given up 6 touchdowns via the run, look for them to try to keep it that way.
Look for Ogopogo to do what they do best, air it out. They are the number one passing offense and will not give up that position easily. They have a comfortable lead in passing touchdowns, with an amazing 403.5 yards a game average! If that doesn't scare you, maybe the Monsters' Fans will! They travel in numbers and tend to bring their 4x4's sporting Ogopogo's trademark. It's good to see such support travel from city to city, but it's no surprise that security is always needed to keep the rowdy fans in check.
Don't let Memphis fool you with their record. They have the number one rushing offense and are ready to stretch their legs on their home turf.
Ogopogo will once again look to the air and unleash another barrage of completions for massive yards. They are not 9-1 for nothing, they have shear talent.
Memphis must try to penetrate Ogopogo's offensive line. They will need to rush the pass as often as they can. Keep tremendous pressure on the quarterback at all times, and force him to make mistakes. He is prone to throwing interceptions when hurried. This is no easy task, as it will take the entire game to tire down Ogopogo's offensive line. Not only do they have to keep the Monsters off the board early, but if they learned anything last week, but they also need to watch out for them in the fourth quarter.
Ogopogo has given up 12 touchdowns on the ground. They need to beef up their run protection, and try to keep their linebackers fresh. They need to plan their blitz package accordingly and hopefully they can stop the run enough to secure another victory. Look for the Monsters to utilize their 4-3 defense that has worked thus far. Glotto Rumprucker will be a key factor in stopping the run. He must not fold under the pressure.
This will be a classic run vs pass match up. We all know that this can go either way. Memphis with home field advantage, and Ogopogo with an ungodly winning streak... Sure to be an exciting game! If i must, I am picking Memphis for the upset. Nothing against the Monsters, I think it's your time to go back to the waters edge and recoup.
