#1 Listowel Huskies 8-1 vs #4 Memphis Maulers 7-2
Listowel hosts Memphis and will try to once again prove they are the top dog team to beat. The Huskies have been dominate throughout the season. Don't expect them to lay down for a belly rub, they will surely sink their teeth in when the Maulers least expect it.
Maulers will have to contain Justin Strickler. This guy is a beast averaging 11.4 yards per carry. If they can some how get past Barred Window, Blocked Door, and Mike O'Shea, they might have a chance at getting their hands on Justin in the backfield. If Memphis allows Strickler a chance to use his explosive speed it will be doomsday for the Maulers as they go home with another loss added to their record.
The Huskies cannot allow Memphis to get an early lead. The Maulers are great at getting on the scoreboard early and their defense has been pretty decent at keeping their offense on the field. The Huskies will some how have to stop the relentless ground pound the Memphis can dish out. They have three equally talented backs that are each just as dangerous as the next. If Memphis tries the air attack which they will be capable of using when the time is right, the Huskies will need to penetrate and go after the Quarterback. They have given up a total of 7 sacks, 14 hurries, and 8 interceptions.
Listowel will have their hands full. Lets hope they don't bite off more than they can chew. If all goes well the will Huskies remain the top dog and edge out the Maulers in the 4th.
#2 Ogopogo Lake Monsters 8-1 vs #5 Westwood Bruins 6-3
The Monsters gear up for what looks like a great match up against the Bruins. The fans at Ice Swamp Stadium will be all painted up, shirts off, and foam fingers waving. They have plenty to celebrate going into this game. They have been on cruise control ever since their loss to the Huskies, which fans call a fluke. Get ready for another great performance out of these top contenders.
Ogopogo will need to address Westwood's Sir Mustard Ketchup. Ketchup has skill that could easily wreck havoc on the monsters secondaries. If they can keep him well covered and poke fun at his high ball dropping rate the could easily take out their star receiver before he ever gets started. Ideally they would love to shut down thier passing game and concentrate on MoJo Drew and his counterpart
Stanley Spadowski. This tag team combo will be the bread and butter for the Bruins offense. Look for Ogopogo to stack the box as often as they can to derail their efforts in the ground game.
Westwood will need to bring their A game. They will not be able to sustain any attack the Monsters will throw at them for a lengthy amount of time. The Bruins will need to keep their players fresh and motivated at all times. They will need to keep constant pressure on Darian Durant. Durant has proven he can put the ball where no other quarterback would even attempt. Darian loves to hit Primetime Speedster in the numbers for big gains. The Bruins will need to keep their eye on Brian 'I'm Deaf' Murphy. This guy is amazing in clutch situations and can come up with the ball under tremendous pressure.
Ogopogo with home field advantage, outstanding fan base, and a four game winning streak will be more than enough to challenge Westwood. Look for this game to start early, get ugly, and easily get out of hand. Westwood will try, but will be trailing from start to finish. Ogopogo continues being the feared monsters that we have come to love.
