That's kind of hard to believe unless you are a supermodel?

Probably closer to the other end of the spectrum. I'm a network engineer. Almost everything they taught about it in college ended up being plain wrong (I majored in computer science), so basically worse than useless.

Besides, it's not really about what you know anyhow. It's about your ability to recognize that there's no such thing as an established authority on a subject - at least, not one that's correct more often than its wrong. That concept runs pretty foreign to the very concept of academia.

Nah, he's right. I mean, I was an English major, I pretty much don't use what I learned in school. The issue is that you don't get the jobs without the schooling, even if it isn't applicable.

I tend to agree with this.
I was a Classics major, and it's served me perhaps 5 times in law school. It was nice to own that douchebag that thought he knew EVERYTHING about Greek political structure, but I digress.

This pretty much nails it; it teaches us to carfully examine multiple sources before coming to a decision. Law school's much different, though...

Well, it's not I got a degree in English. You can say I have a degree in English. I mean, assuming you wanted both of your examples in the same tense.
