The Fabulous Four
1. New Jersey Crocodiles(5-0)
Took care of business in Week 5 knocking down Hague and the team with arguably the hardest early season schedule in the conference boasts its best record. So long as they keep their eye on the ball it should be a clean run to the playoffs for them.
The Road Ahead: Manlets, Sidewinders, Hollywood
Projected: 8-0
2. Roman Legion(4-1)
Manhandled the Hollywood Knights dominating with a heavy dose of defense and special teams, while racking up 230 yards on the ground. Big win for the Legion as they show their dominance against the rest of the league - minus the Cardiac Crocs.
UPCOMING OPPONENTS: Constantinople, Tigers, Wolves
Projected Record: 7-1
3. Hollywood Knights(4-1)
Hollywood is snafued by the Legion along with their own special teams mistakes and inability to get the ball out of the Legions hands. They can breath for half a second against the Mamertini and regroup but back to back games against the Draftniks and Crocs cant be anyone's idea of a vacation.
UPCOMING OPPONENTS: Mamertini, Draftniks, Crocs
PROJECTED RECORD: 6-2
4. Warsaw Wolves(5-0)
For just the second time in his Wolves career star QB Yuri Lazarev couldn't find the endzone through the air but improved defense and a more sound ground game allowed us to grind out the Legion. We face the promising Bulls and if they think we are taking them for granted their still my darkhorse pick for a playoff spot and no such luck.
UPCOMING OPPONENTS: Bulls, Vikings, Legion
Projected Record: 7-1
Rising back up?
5. Walterfootball.com Draftniks(3-2)
Put a good score up against the Manlets though it does make one wonder about their defensive strength. We all know they can run and stop the run, but can they contain the pass? If they can't it'll be rough sledding against their remaining meaninful matchups with the Knights and Wolves.
The Road Ahead: Sidewinders, Hollywood, Constantinople
Projected: 5-3
Post-Season Hopefuls
6. Misc Manlets(3-2)
Still in the nastiest part of their schedule but performed fairly well against the Draftniks, showed some offensive balance and played a good game. They also appear better than the rest despite record and the fact that they can't be happy going against the Crocs this week.
UPCOMING GAMES: Crocs, Hague, Sidewinders
PREDICTION: 5-3
7. Hague Pirates(2-3)
Got busted up by the Crocs but as usual they are steady unlikely to make huge mistakes, win the games they should win and be competitive against everyone else. Who knows with Bort's planned mass league re-organization they may be the class of EA5 next season
UPCOMING GAMES: Minotaurs, Manlets, Chuck Norris
EXPECTED RECORD: 4-4
8. Pamplona Bulls(3-2)
I still like this team, they have a solid foundation of players and could be a dominant team next season. That being said they are obviously missing a few pieces this season. Still they are filling them slowly and are dangerous enough to pull some upsets. Im happy to play them this week instead of later in the season.
UPCOMING GAMES: Wolves, Bocs, Athens
PROJECTED RECORD: 5-3
On the outside, but still chugging along
9. Chuck Norris(3-2)
At a clear pivot point in their season they need to run off three wins here to assure themselves a playoff spot because the second half of their season appears much more difficult. A win against the Bocs would get them rolling and help build some moment before a bigger pivot game against Hague.
UPCOMING OPPONENTS: Bocs, Athens, Hague
PROJECTED RECORD: 4-3
10. Iberian Bocs (3-2)
Well they have a big game against Chuck Norris and will be in a world of hurt if they drop this game. The Bulls are running and dangerous and if they cant take down Chuck it could be the Boc's fading early from their original hopes of post-season glory.
UPCOMING GAMES: Chuck Norris, Pamplona, Vikings
EXPECTED RECORD: 5-3
NOTE ON THE PREDICTIONS I DO NOT USE THE LEAGUE PROJECTOR, so this is my prediction purely on observation - leaves it more open to being interesting anyway.
GAME OF THE WEEK: Bulls vs. Wolves
My Wolves look to keep our undefeated season alive as the Bulls are a team built to potentially upset us. I think we can pull this one out but expect the upstart Bulls to give us a very very rough time.
Wolves 31-28
MUST SEE TV: Bocs vs. Chuck Norris
Seemingly one of these two, Hague or the Bulls will miss the post-season. These games are critical not just for the win total but to ensure that all critical first head-to-head tie breaker. With revenue sharing coming in the playoffs this game takes on even more significance to building long term.
Bocs 22 Norris 13
CHECK OUT THE LATE GAME: Crocs vs. Manlets
Well I guess the Manlets could pull the upset of the season here and nock off the first place Crocs - but as much as the Crocs have waited to move past the Draftniks and Legion I don't see them fumbling that opportunity away.
Crocs 44 Manlets 16
If your interested in these games your padding stats:
Legion 101 Constantinople 3
Hollywood 64 Mamertini 17
Draftniks 124 Sidewinders 0
Hague 77 Minotaurs 0
Vikings 34 Tigers 3
