yeah, me too...or so i thought. my titers didn't agree though, and indicated i wasn't sufficiently immune to work in the hospital lol. it was very mild when i had it, but i'm not sure if that explains my insufficient antibody response

yeah, they tested my antibodies to Varicella, Hep B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella and maybe a couple of others that I can't remember atm. i guess it's just a precaution since you're exposed to so much in a hospital and there's also many immunocompromised people there that you could give it to.

does this mean you will be more susceptible to Shingles later in life?

well, since i already had it as a child the virus was already latent in my cells. given that the varicella vaccine is live-attenuated, it too could cause shingles later in life, but at a much lower rate than those who caught the chickenpox naturally. i'm not sure that getting the vaccine would add on to my risk since i had already caught the virus, but it might. given that pretty much every older person in my family has had the shingles at some point already (i think something like 1 in 3 ever get it), i will probably just get the shingles vaccine since i'm apparently genetically predisposed to getting it lol.

Doctors who believe in natural recovery and minimal drugs will still prescribe you vicodin and oxycodone for it. It's bad. Only known a single person who's had it, but she seemed absolutely miserable, and she had to act like she had herpes, no touching anything without gloves, no using one single towel, etc.

I just realized why a lot of snack foods have half servings. Like this bag of Doritos, has 3.5 servings.
It's because it is a lot more difficult to quickly do the math in your head. If it had 3 servings at 150 each, that's pretty easy math...but 3.5 servings at 130 calories takes a bit more work.
Not only doesn't the number look smaller (130 vs 150), but it makes it more difficult to actually find out the total amount. Disgusting.

wait....natural recovery? what does that entail? why are they doctors if they aren't going to do anything about it?

Fuck if I know. I've not really ever understood naturopaths.

I want to spend years of my life dedicating it to science and healing.... but I won't use any advanced, clearly more effective, naturally-derived medicines. Let's use actual mold instead of derived penicillin. Let's use willow bark to treat a fever and inflammation instead of aspirin.
It's like they're almost there but not quite. I understand disliking some artificial medicines, but the naturopath approach of 'theyre all bad, shun anything that doesnt grow' is counterproductive to medicine, science, and humanity.

I believe so. Not to be inflammatory or anything but I think naturopath's hearts are in the right place but they aren't entirely as intelligent as DO/MDs. You do what is best for the patient, that's typically giving them the best medicine. I'd prefer aspirin to chewing bark
