Lasik has one of the lowest error rates of any surgery. For comparison, with 30 years of daily contact use, 1 in 100 people will get a serious eye infection directly linked to the contacts, and 1 in 2000 will suffer some sort of vision loss. The same severity of eye infection is seen in 1 out of 10,000 Lasik procedures.

Not personally 'not made a dime', but professionally, as in the company hasn't made a dime and they don't even know how to monetize the company yet. They've already stated they won't use the data like FB and commercialize their members, which is good, but it greatly limits their earning capacity.

They think they're in the power seat, but there are other competing technologies and websites out there. They're hip with the youngsters now, but by the time those kids graduate from college and get some real spending capabilities, there is no guarantee that snapchat will still have their eyes or interest. You can tell the backers are very, very deep pockets because anybody who was practical in any sense would have jumped at that figure. Think about it, you haven't even built a working business model, and somebody is offering you $3B. What would you do? Even if you thought you could extort more out of FB or Google, the window of opportunity does not stay open forever. If I were FB or Google, I would say f these clowns, for $3B, we can create a better site, take their members, buy their competition, make commercials about the shitty points of their service relative to mine, etc. $3B is a massive amount of money.

he got it done on himself, and as an ER doc his eyesight can mean life or death for his patients when he performs emergency surgery on them.

He did complain about brightness of the sun for the first few months after he got it done, fyi.
