Looks like lots of stuff got locked yesterday. That's pretty much how it goes in "lock-down" mode...hence the name.

Giving people some time to cool down is generally a better way to get real suggestions rather than unhelpful rants.

Bort, it’s a shame that a thread of this nature was needed to get your attention here. You have been really good at solving a lot of these issues here, and I'm hoping that you will attend to this one.. As this cant go on this way.

You are obviously running a business.. One we all like and support, and put a considerable amount of time into during the course of the day. I agree with someone else who said that the customer service level has to be on par, as that is something we are paying for as well (and the way to ensure that we keep forking out more money as time goes on).

I've said earlier that I have nothing personal against Harper, just an inherent dislike for people who "are not cheats because it wasn’t in the rules". Most of us believe that there are moral guidelines that are in the spirit of the game, and I know you hold this view as I could read it in the "tone" of your posts when level 25's were heading into the low leagues.

Harper is a confrontational fellow who reeks of arrogance.. His "lock-down" approach has only served enflame the situation, and piss off a lot of people.. People who are YOUR customers.. Harpers current game is to attack using the rules (a kind of ironic double standard if you think about it).

Which leaves me, as a (repeat) paying customer in a quandary.. I have guys on my team who are now thinking of leaving (and its so difficult to get good guys in the first place), and some of the best competition is bailing, so whats left?

Harper is not a respected individual either in SA, or any other board I've read, or people I've spoken too.. And in the end all he really did was replace all the Kai threads and trash talking with his own "I'm Tim "Dirty Harry Harper" posts.

Its up to you and DD what you do with this game.. But consider the consequences...as an example Hattrick only cost me $40 per year, and the internet is full of distractions.

Or they could show a little patience and say "Ok, thanks for looking into it. I'll stop messaging you every 10 seconds and posting threads every 20."

We saw absolutely 0 action. Not an announcement that you were dealing with it. Not a half assed apology from you or even any other damn mod on Tim's behalf.

When you get mistread at the hands of someone with power who was obviously abusing it, you don't say "Ok thanks" to the people who are, as far as it looks like, SUPPORTING that abuse and move on your merry way.

That's BS...threads were locked with a "stop it" more than once. He knew what he was doing. He can wait the 4 hours.

my question is why can't people who are banned still be allowed to post on their team forums. I was incorrectly banned because I was acused of something I didn't do, the mod overturned it within 15 minutes but I learned banned means banned from team forums. That is not right because that is messing with the game at that point. no scouting, game planning, giving advice, etc.

The problem is that that nothing was done about the mods actions and nothing still has been done. If something would have been done about the abuse of power, then the 2 days of posts and messages would not be needed. If a normal player did the same thing, they would have been cut-off and issue solved. The fact that the admin let a Mod run wild and essentially alienate the top % of the customer base is pretty poor.

Defending someone or not, I'm not going to reinstate people who made thread after thread when they were warned to stop and use the proper channels instead. Pretty obvious, IMO.

Anyway, like I said, I'm not going to make a decision on this and act on it in the next 12.3 seconds. I know some of you "want justice NOW" but I need a little time to digest and discuss. Thanks for your consideration on that.

Actually, I agree with this. To make a quick decision would be to trivialize a structural flaw with how this is done. It should be quick, thoughtful, and in a manner that has the major customer involved, Satch, feeling like he wants to come back. Anything else is falling short.

One more point as to the impact this could have on GLB. I don't know how many people read "The Tipping Point," but it basically says there are people in social networks that can basically influence how trends evolve. These boundary spanners connect people and give more than they receive.

Satchmo is such a person. Nothing less than a thoughtful response that bring the network back together should be expected. It should be very public, so all of the branches of the network understand. Don't underestimate how quickly this is getting across the network. The same forces that led to the rapid expansion can have the opposite impact. I have about a dozen case studies if you doubt.

Let's imagine you're one of 2 customer support agents. You have an inbox full of questions about teams, players, etc. Then there's one user who messages you 12 times about the same thing over and over. What do you do?

Try nipping the problem in the bud before the issue escalates...i.e. this Thread.

I can't see Bort saying anything here about What TH did to cause this.... No admission of guilt from management...

Bort hasn't said one time that TH did anything wrong or that a Moderator has a responsibility to put flames out, not fan them

Forums are an integral part of the game. It's not clear to me that the management has fully adopted this position, though they need to.

What I mean is that perhaps what some of the admins don't really get is that, to many everyday players of GLB, the Mods are Refs.

Refs reffing their own players is conflict of interest.

Refs egging the players on to cause trouble is, well, retarded.

If Satch is gone, there are many effects. I could go on a self-indulgent rant about how 2 teams I'm on(including 1 I own) will be decimated by his players retiring, but there's a larger issue that others have mentioned: one of the most well-respected figures in this entire game is getting treated like he's a nuisance. Satch is good people; I've known him from before this game and I'll hopefully continue to talk with him after he's gone(if he's truly gone). He's a good person, and he's been nothing but positive on this site. The guy has come up with formulas, theories, & spreadsheets that half of the teams use. In many ways, Bort's had a free QA tester. Hell, Bort's been getting paid by this guy to be a de facto QA tester! And yet this is how it ends. I'm more than a little dissuaded by these events and how mgmt here has handled them. I've been through the server load issues and the buggy replays, I've been through all the beta stuff and didn't complain because I know how betas are. But this isn't an issue of technical malfeasance, it's a case of GLB having customer service the likes of Time Warner. It's unacceptable in more ways than one.

Listen, I know this is just a game. It's a game I enjoy, no less. But if I'm going to be paying money to do this instead of spending my cash on fantasy football or some other form of entertainment, I'm going to do it because I think my issues will get answered when I have them. Right now I don't believe that's the case here. Hopefully Bort will rectify this situation and restore a little community faith in the customer support, his game's success ultimately depends not on how well the safeties cover the WRs but on how he treats his paying customers.

i cast my vote with satchmo, using my dollars.

it has been said before, can't have mods throw a torch then ban the roof for acting all on fire.

I think bort wants to pull all of the threads and read them. I suspect Bort is calling out sick tomorrow because this whole thing has the potential to ruin GLB.

Bort I am sure has realized that some of the improvements to this game have come from people thinking of quitting and he wants to try and make it right.

I say make Satch a mod because he has never (until recently) ruffled anyone's feathers.

Wow... very well written. Hats off to you on a very solid intelligent response...
