Y’all are nuts if you think passing is dead. Watch this game.

You just need to build fast WRs.. And once the defenses adjust to fast WRs and start building fast DBs, the underneath will open up.

Fast receivers work underneath too…

My point is, the fast WRs will take the fast CBs downfield and open underneath. Right now, the middle/underneath is crowded because the defense isn’t scared of the deep ball.

I thinks it’s alright, but I agree that the blocking sucks. It feels like the balance still lies in the favor of defensive line, no matter what. Don’t know how that’d be fixed, but at least let pass blockers benefit better in pass situation.

Especially if you’re bringing line consistently up to 70+. A consistent line isn’t allowing double digit hurries + sacks. At least it shouldn’t imo.

Snap react and physicals are super important to pass blocking for an offensive line - pass rush can be winning all game and still be stymied by a line that holds them up just long enough. There are ways to build offensive lines to buy time for the QB against the pass rush - but that's all they will ever do, is buy time, at least at higher levels. So it's a trade between how much time you need vs how much you want to still be able to invest in run blocking, which is why we get to this meta of using more mobility and snap reaction since it's important in run blocking too, but also trying to get away with using only as much pass blocking skills as needed to hold up the pass rush.

Run blocking is very hard to do well, and despite HBs being amazing none of that matters if the blocking just fails you up front, so people have naturally leaned in on this build style.

16 sacks from a non superstar line rushing 4 primarily.

I supported agile lines for years until the changes finally made them viable. Pass blocking itself sucks, it’s not even an argument.

It’s the main reason why my base defense is always man blitz

Dropping back vs forward movement is the key difference here. Run blockers are heading into lines, pass blockers watch and react.

Problem is, in GLB2 defensive linemen are already good at run defense. Their forward movement is overwhelming enough, and the SA’s just make them even more beefed up.

At least lower the cost of blocker or something for better experimentation or something because as is, pass blocking will continue to be an afterthought (which it honestly should be at this point).

2000 SP for pass block points, yet still struggling with blocking is not ideal.

At the same time very odd for you to take that many sacks against non blitz. If you look at the #1 Journeyman team, 70% pass team takes very little sacks. A few of the top vet teams are pass dominate teams and take very few sacks as well. Hanna is a 70% pass team, very little sacks taken, Rebels are true 50/50 very little sacks taken. Springfield Atoms and Mango Fandagos Quic something team are both passing teams as well. None of us take that many sacks ever. Not even against Spamalot. It looks to be more of a play choice by you.

All of you have better lines than us respectfully. I took an extra guard of the line recently and can understand how losing that extra beef can be an issue in the long game.

I’d be fine if the inside of our line was killing us, but the outside is the one folding. It’s really hard to explain other than they be folding. Like stat wise they’ll look relatively solid, but then you’ll see them play and have questions.

Everyone’s also probably investing more in run blocking than me too. Kinda hard to though when these PB points are 2000+ SP at this point.

When you consider responsibilities along the o-line for pass blocking, almost always when a tackle gets in trouble the only person who can ever hope to help is a guard, and since the defensive stunting will entirely decide which of your guards will get to go help depending on who locks on the center - it's important to make sure they have good pass aware and quick physicals/super high balance to ensure they can quickly slide into position and save a QB who is shifting to try and help them get there.

In pass blocking, much more than the actual tech, being quick and proactive is best, and since guards benefit a lot from being mobile to pull in the run game, it's just a very good idea to put mobility and snap reaction as huge focuses for the positions.

If you lose your grip on a guy in the pass game, almost always there will be some way for another guy to get in the way or help out - or if not then the coverage will almost always have someone open you can hit if your QB has high pocket/pass aware. But if you lose your grip on a guy in the run game - suddenly inside runs become magnets for showboat activation and TFL opportunities.

It's important to choose passing plays that have good progressions along them in respect to receiver cut timings too, to give your QB the best chance to see an opening as it appears.

11 sacks given up by the tackles. Five from the interior is bad, but the non stars performed better.

Everyone keeps saying “you just need high …”, but the minimums I have for the essentials is 70. Footwork 60 & 40-50 Quickness on the line.

Again, on paper they’re relatively decent. But you’d think they were run blockers via their stats, not pass blockers. More head scratching play the higher we get in pass protection numbers.

Also, never pass on 3rd and long. You will always get sacked. The QB holds onto the ball until his WR passes the 1st down marker.

This sack is on the play caller….not the O Line.
