I know this is an off day that falls on a Saturday, but so far we have had about 10 posts on the entire day. I don't know if hte answer is a more volatile ladder, but I think it could help. I'm starting to lean towards the guys who want a ladder reset each season, I think that could spice things up...

Unfortunately I am feeling the same way.

Last season was very fun. My first season at vet, so much forum activity. We had the watch party in full force and the game seemed to be in a really good place. This season is like a graveyard. Nobody seems to care anymore. It has led to me caring less as well. I will only be coaching 2-3 teams starting next season. I'm just hoping for an influx of new players/coaches, but I won't hold my breath. How many good or great coaches have came along in the last five seasons? It seems like the same damn people who have been around from the start are the ones doing damage, with a few exceptions.

Agree, it is bad.

I think ladder volatility would add some...and keep some interest but it just isn't enough.

How long til it is like 10 of us coaching CPU only teams against each other?

I would hope it didn't come to that. I have been trying to teach a few that want to learn. That or wanted me to coach and I said no but would try to help them learn the game more

Whoville just literally beat my ass...but guess who cares? Absolutely nobody. Hell I could kick Harrisonburgs ass by 30 tomorrow and nobody would care beyond me and tdiddy.

The ladder situation needs to change. Older teams have this enormous stockpile of ELO, every off-season it should be adjusted towards either a universal mean or a tier mean.

New Jersey Generals are gutted, they're regularly losing by 100+ on the ladder. They've only scored 21 points total when adding all of their 11 ladder matches. That's 1.9 points per game.

How many games should a team like the Generals lose, before they've fallen far enough in the ladder to where they're in an actual competitive match? We're now 2/3rds of the way through the season, and the Generals are still drawing competitive teams like DD and WCW. They should've been leapfrogged in the ladder by at least the Top 10 of the Pro tier by now.

To be honest, I have no idea how you coach so many teams anyways.

There should be a mentor thread where younger coaches can feel free to PM older players for advice. I've got a few PM's this season from young team owners or GM's or something just wanting me to do everything for them. I've said I'll give them advice any time they need, and they should try and bounce ideas off me. But no go.

Also, the help/faq forum needs actual decent threads to be stickied. Even if people are arguing, actually especially if people are arguing, you're more likely to see all sides, views, and thoughts on what works/doesn't.

If they can't be bothered enough to ask their question in the form of a thread in FAQ what makes you think a thread makes that any easier? That makes it especially more frustrating as well because its just a thread full of random questions rather than threads where people can see their question has been answered recently at the very least.

You might be right. But there is no tutorial, no real faq, nothing to help new players out. This game is brutal to new guys just starting out. I was really close to quitting in FSM's rookie season. The tactics/playbook weren't making sense. Embarrassingly, it wasn't until Seasoned that I realized the O and D playbook requirements weren't the same. I had 5 plays in every D playbook section because I assumed it was the same as the O playbook requirements.

We want newer players to really get into the game, learn, grow, etc etc. Then information should be easily accessible in very viewable areas. That means Stickies.

its true i didnt know much and started out on stark dire wolves in their seasoned year. william78 worked with me told me what didnt work versus certain stuff and then i just started doing the old gameplan watching film saying okay this team beat them and used this so i should try it or that team lost but held them to their lowest points i should try that. watched the top teams defense play and got better slowly and slowly where now people ask me for advice, and of course still ask advice all the time on certain things if im not for certain.

I liked the trial and error part, but the DAI was a little much. Some kind of tester would have saved me a lot of headaches and would still be helpful. As far as a FAQ there is already a lot of information if you take the time to scour the forums.

I think teams are way too eager to press the reset button every time things are not going their way. Once the new guys all quit, the leagues condense and get competitive the reset button is then pressed. They then go back to beating up on the new guys. Only one other team from our rookie league made it to vet. Most reset a long time ago. There is then a bunch of people who can't find teams for their toons and never get see their finished toons play. Things get stagnate and boring. Our rookie season there was so much trash talk and excitement, now there is not even the token GGs.
